YALE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF

Welcome

Greetings from the Yale Alumni Association of WNC! This is a warm invitation to all Yale alumni, living or visiting in our area, undergraduate, graduate or professional, Class of 1909 or Class of 2009, or in between, to join us for an hour or two of good conversation and sustenance each month.

On the last Wednesday of the month we meet at noon in Asheville for lunch and good fellowship. We pride ourselves on being under-organized. We have no dues or other encumbrances. Occasionally we have a speaker from our ranks but often we just enjoy each other's company. Once in a blue moon we have a distinguished speaker come down from New Haven or some other event related to Yale.  On April 16, 2010, we are scheduled to have Prof. John Merriman of the History Dept. as our speaker.   We also serve as interviewers for prospective applicants to Yale from Western North Carolina, probably our most important function.   And we give book awards each year to local outstanding secondary school juniors nominated by their schools.

So, please join us at a Wednesday lunch.   Our next lunch date is February 24, 12 noon, at Flat Rock Grille, 1302 Hendersonville Road.  The Grille is located on the east side (left as you are heading south) not far from where the Blue Ridge Parkway crosses Hendersonville Road.  It is nearly across the road from the Carolina Day School entrance.  Parking is ample and free.
