Maryalice Morro (1983)
VA Announces New Medical Center Director Maryalice Morro, RN, MSN
Morro '83 CON brings proven leadership, experience to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center
ATLANTA (Duluth, Ga.) – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maryalice Morro, RN, MSN, as the new director of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center (CVVAMC), located in Dublin, Georgia. Morro will oversee health care delivery to more than 34,500 Veterans with a workforce of 1,200 employees. The CVVAMC is a 340-bed facility with an operating budget of approximately $213 million.
“Ms. Morro has a proven track record as an exceptional health care leader,” said VA Southeast Network Director Charles Sepich. “She’s held progressively responsible leadership positions within the military and private sector, and has outstanding qualifications.”
Throughout Morro’s career, she has demonstrated the management ability to lead complex organizations, motivate employees, manage resources, and work successfully with widely varied stakeholder groups. Morro’s appointment as CVVAMC director will begin immediately.
A retired Captain with the U.S. Navy, Morro has served as Chief Operating Officer/Regional Chief of Staff for Navy Medicine East, where she provided oversight of 10 hospitals and 60 outpatient clinics in the eastern United States; Europe; Bahrain; and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; with a combined budget of approximately $1.4 billion and 19,000 staff. She also served as Chief Executive Officer/Commanding Officer for the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., where she directed the integrated health care for a family medicine teaching hospital consisting of 12 clinics in 5 states with a combined budget of approximately $134 million and 2,100 staff.
