Julia Green (2004) Julia Green (2004) and Jeremey Marks were married on July 11, 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The ceremony was officiated by fellow Virginia Wesleyan alumnus and former VWC chaplain Robert "Chappy" Chapman (1979). Julia is a reporter with the Catskill Mountain News in upstate New York and recently wrote a play that will be produced this fall; Jeremey is a teacher, coach and athletic director at Margaretville Central School. They currently reside in Fort Bragg, NC. Gayla and Joe will be leaving NC and attending UVA for his Master's in which he'll be using to teach at West Point for 3 years. They currently reside in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri . In July Lieutenant Paul Wolfe III (’07) married Leonieke Nijssen, a 2006 VWC graduate who received her Masters in Elementary Education from Regent University, 2008. The best man, my brother, Matthew Wolfe, who is currently a VWC senior and graduates this year with a Business Degree. The Maid of Honor was Stefanie Nijssen (’08), the sister of the bride, also a VWC alum. My mother and father, Paul & Phyllis, were also in the wedding Party making six from VWC. Leonieke and I are now in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri awaiting the 3rd phase of my Officer Leadership Course. I'm currently a Platoon Leader in Echo Company, 554th Engineering Battalion (Sapper Company). In October I will be on temporary duty in Ft. Sill Oklahoma, where I will undergo Advanced Infantry and weapons training. In April, we will head to Fort Bliss, Texas. There I will be a Combat Engineer Platoon Leader in the new Army Evaluation Task Force Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division. My unit, an Infantry and Armor Combined Arms Battalion, is tasked with evaluating and implementing experimental future combat systems, weapons and equipment for the U.S. Army.   Submitted on Sep 8 2008 Beverli Dewberry (2005) Beverli Dewberry (2005) and Tony Austin are happy to announce their engagement. They currently reside in Capitola, CA. Rachel Barrett Burk and Andrew George Gable were married June 21, 2008 at Huckleberry Woods Escape in Boulder Creek. The wedding was officiated by the Rev. John Benedetti of Santa Cruz. Rachel is the daughter of Michael and Gail Burk of Scotts Valley. She graduated from Soquel High School in 1991, where she played varsity soccer and competed in the Soquel High School surf team. She received her degree in English from the UC Berkeley in 2000 and also attended UC Santa Cruz and Cabrillo Community College. She is currently a humanities teacher at Aromas Middle School in Aromas. Andrew is the son of Edward and Laverne Gable of Pebble Beach. He graduated from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, Va. in 1984 and from Virginia Wesleyan College with a degree in Russian history in 1988. Following a honeymoon in New Orleans, the couple now resides in Starkville, MS. A beautiful evening ceremony took place at the Renaissance Hotel and Waterfront Conference Center in Portsmouth, VA. Acoustic guitar musician, and regional recording and performing artist, Lewis McGehee, played at the ceremony and also entertained guests at the pre-reception cocktail hour. A candle light dinner reception followed for 230 guests in the ballroom later in the evening and was followed by a huge party. The wedding cake that was designed by Julie and created by LaChoclatier Bakery as well as the ballroom wedding décor created by Touch of Elegance was featured in the Hampton Roads Wedding Guide – January 2008 issue. Following a honeymoon in the Caribbean the couple reside in Chesapeake, VA with their rescue animals consisting of their Labrador Retriever and 4 cats.
