Bladen Finch (2003) was appointed to serve on the Support and Efficiencies Subcommittee for the National Conference of State Legislatures' Legislative Staff

John Helms (1998)
John Helms (1998) recently accepted a position at University of North Carolina Wilmington located in Wilmington, NC as Postdoctoral Fellow. John was previously employed at Tidewater Community College as Adjunct Assistant Professor. "Having completed my Doctorate at Old Dominion, I will be joining the Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry Research Lab at UNCW to study the impact of increased ethanol production and usage on rainwater chemistry."

James MacLeod (1997)
James MacLeod (1997) is proud to announce the birth of his baby boy, Robert "Bobby" James MacLeod. He was born on September 16, 2011 in Torrance, CA, and weighed 9 lb., 9 oz. James reports that the first month with his son has been an amazing experience, and that the baby is healthy and well.  Click here for photo

Delayna Ishee (2004)
Delayna Ishee (2004) recently accepted a position at 20th Century Fox Television's "American Dad!". Although Delayna graduated with a degree in the sciences, she has since decided pursue her dream of becoming a screenwriter. She recently moved to Los Angeles, and is now working as a production assistant to the writers of "American Dad!"

Bladen Finch (2003)
Bladen Finch (2003) was elected Vice Chair of the Legislative Information and Constituent Services Staff Section for the National Conference of State Legislatures. He will serve one year as Vice Chair and automatically become Chair of the staff section in the fall of 2012.

Frank Bottone (1993)
Frank Bottone (1993) recently published an all-color book entitled “All About Pugs: A Collection of Color Photos and Short Stories”. The book reviews the traits and characteristics that make pugs unique, including their habits, grooming requirements, nutritional and other needs. "All About Pugs" is available at leading book retailers such as Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.

Ashley Carmichael (2006)
Ashley Carmichael (2006) received a Masters in Special Education from Regent University in May 2011. Ashley now teaches special education in Virginia Beach, VA.

Nancy Allen (1999)
Nancy Allen (1999) has recently relocated to Washington D.C. where she serves as Speechwriter for the Commanding General. She has spent the past three years in New Orleans with the Corps' Hurricane Protection Office, handling public affairs and strategic communications on a $6 billion construction program to provide 100-year risk reduction to the city.

Matthew Franck (1980)
Matthew Franck (1980) moved in 2010 to a new position at the Witherspoon Institute in Princeton, NJ as Director of the William E. and Carol G. Simon Center on Religion and the Constitution. Matt was previously employed for 21 years at Radford University as a Professor of Political Science, and chaired the department for 15 years. He is now Professor Emeritus at Radford.

James Fitzpatrick (1975) and Sue (Louk) Fitzpatrick (1975) are proud to announce the birth of their granddaughter, a baby girl, Eleanor Sadie Fitzpatrick. She was born on June 3, 2011 to their son Jim and their daughter-in-law Jessica. She weighed 9 lb.  Click here for photo

Graham Costa (2010) and Hayley Hamadyk, both of Newport News, are happy to announce their engagement. The wedding ceremony will take place in Fall 2012.

Stephanie Stevenson (2000)
Stephanie (Stevenson) Lesniewicz (2000) and Bryan Lesniewicz are happy to announce their marriage on July 17, 2010 in Albemarle Plantation, Hertford, NC. The wedding was held at a golf course on the Albemarle Sound. The couple then took a road trip along the NC/SC coast, spending time in Wilmington, NC and Charleston, SC. Stephanie is currently a store manager for a local surf retailer and Bryan is an assistant manager of a restaurant. They reside in Chesapeake, VA with their dog Scarlett.

Mark Caffee (2002)
Mark Caffee (2002) died in Chesapeake, VA on June 11, 2011. Mark was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Over the past 10 years, he served as coach, manager, and baseball commissioner for the Western Branch Athletic Club. He was actively involved in his children's teams, and through coaching, touched the lives of many other children.

William Ayres (1978)
Charles Michael Pritchard (1979) died in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on February 24, 2011. Michael, born in Norfolk, was the son of the late Charles Vivian Pritchard and Sylvia Leota Hartsock Pritchard and grandson of the late George L. Pritchard and Beulah Perry Pritchard. He was a librarian assistant at Bayside Library. He is survived by a sister, Suzanne Pritchard Kennedy and her husband James of Norfolk, and many loving family members and friends.
