Aubrey Von Lindern (1998) recently accepted a position at State of West Virginia located in Charleston, WV as a Historian for the State Historic Preservation Office. Submitted on Jan 14 2010. Aubrey Von Lindern (1998) Aubrey Von Lindern (1998) received a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from University of Vermont in December 2008. Submitted on Jan 14 2010. Leigh Harrell (1997) Leigh Harrell (1997) received her PhD in Educational Research and Evaluation (EDRE)from Virginia Tech on December 18, 2009. She received the Outstanding Doctoral Student of the Year award for the EDRE program in 2009. She is currently an instructor and the undergraduate coordinator for the Department of Statistics at Virginia Tech, a position she has held since August 2004. Submitted on Jan 13 2010. Rebecca (Floyd) Elmo (1996) Rebecca (Floyd) Elmo (1996) and her husband Louis welcomed a daughter, Grace Rebecca on September 16, 2009. She joins big sister Madeline Faith. Charisse (Williams) Black (2000) Charisse (Williams) Black (2000), Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving National President's Criminal Justice Award in recognition of her preparation and aggressive prosecution of DUI cases. Submitted on Dec 8 2009. Julia Green (2004) Julia Green (2004) and Jeremey Marks were married on July 11, 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Virginia Wesleyan alumni who participated in the ceremony included: Ryan Molloy (2000), Merrie (Tobler) Mayner (2003), Sharon (Hay) Stokes (2005), and Kristen Byrnes (2007). The ceremony was officiated by fellow Virginia Wesleyan alumnus and former VWC chaplain Robert "Chappy" Chapman (1979). Julia is a reporter with the Catskill Mountain News in upstate New York and recently wrote a play that will be produced this fall; Jeremey is a teacher, coach and athletic director at Margaretville Central School. Submitted on Dec 8 2009. Nicole Hoskins (2006) Nicole Hoskins (2006) was named president of the board of directors of the Mid-Eastern Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation. The nonprofit symposium provides training for recreational therapists in the mideastern United States. Nicole is a certified therapeutic recreational therapist who oversees weekend and summer recreational therapy activities and outings at St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children. Submitted on Dec 8 2009. Kaitlun (DeGree) Peterson (2004) Kaitlun (DeGree) Peterson (2004) and Kelsey Peterson are proud to announce the birth of a baby boy, Van Christopher Peterson. He was born on November 23, 2009 in VA, and weighed 8 lb., 10 oz.. Submitted on Nov 28 2009. David Wolfram (1973) David Wolfram (1973) was recently hired as the new boat captain of the 45' "Ocean Explorer", a joint venture between the Virginia Aquarium and VWC. The new research vessel will provide valuable learning experiences for VWC students in the oceanography/marine biology programs and provide a platform for extended marine projects at the Va. Aquarium. Wolfram has spent 36 years working as an ecologist at the Va. Dept. of Environmental Quality and will retire from there in Feb., 2010. Submitted on Nov 20 2009. > Read all Class Notes
