Registration Help
Access to VUconnect requires registration, and registration is open only to Vanderbilt University alumni (including medical house officers/fellows) and students.
To register, you’ll need to identify yourself, and you’ll need to provide your four-digit code. You can find this code in the VUconnect card or email you received from Vanderbilt recently on the mailing label of Vanderbilt Magazine or other Vanderbilt magazines you receive; your code is the last four digits of the long number above your name on the label.) If you need help getting your code, email vuconnect@vanderbilt.edu or call the Help Desk at (615) 322-5578. Help is available weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
Then you’ll choose your user ID and password, and you’re connected. You’ll only need your code to register on your first visit to VUconnect. On future visits, all you’ll need to enter is your user name and password.
Step 1: Search for your record.
• In the first step, you’ll locate your name from the list of Vanderbilt alumni and students. Your last name is required at a minimum, but the more information you enter—first name, last name, class year—the more refined the search. You don’t have to complete the full form, however, to find your name and record.
• If your name has changed, the list may include both your current and former names. For example, if your student name was different from your current name (because you got married, for example), you may see both names listed. In this case, you may supply either name.
• If you can’t find your name, check for misspellings. Check that you have supplied your name and other data correctly. If you’re still unable to find your name, email vuconnect@vanderbilt.edu or call the Help Desk at (615) 322-5578. Help is available weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
Step 2: Select your name from the search results list.
Once you’ve entered your data in the form and clicked the Find My Record button, you’ll get a list of all the names of who matched your search criteria. Your name should appear on this list. If you can’t find your name and your name has changed, select the New Search option and search using your former name. If you still can’t find your listing, email vuconnect@vanderbilt.edu or call the Help Desk at (615) 322-5578. Help is available weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
Once you’ve found your name, confirm that it's really you.
Find your name on the list of search results, and click on it. You’ll then see additional information on that specific name listing so you can verify that this is, in fact, your own listing.
What to do if you can't find your name
If none of the names listed appears to be yours, select the New Search option. That option takes you back to the Search form, so you can refine your search criteria. Try searching with your last name only. When applicable, try variations of your last name—for example, “De Rosa" may be listed as "DeRosa". If you still can’t find your name after using all possible entries, your name may have been inadvertently omitted from the list. Click here and you’ll be prompted to provide information that will be sent directly to the VUconnect Help Desk, so we can help you further.
If the system tells you you’re already registered:
• You really have already registered, and you don't need to register again. Simply enter your user name and password when prompted. If you’ve forgotten your user ID or password, go to the VUconnect home page—or within the Account Services area, click on "Forgot your user ID / password?"
• You selected the wrong name from the list. Remember that there may be other alumni or students who have the same name as you. Compare the additional information provided, and make sure you selected the right name.
• If you don’t remember registering, however, or if you are still having difficulty, email vuconnect@vanderbilt.edu or call the Help Desk at (615) 322-5578. Help is available weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
Step 3: Validate your information with your VUconnect four-digit code.
• Once you’ve determined that the detailed information provided is indeed yours, you’ll need to verify that with your four-digit VUconnect code. You can find your code in the VUconnect card or email you received from Vanderbilt recently on the mailing label of Vanderbilt Magazine or other Vanderbilt magazines you receive; your code is the last four digits of the long number above your name on the label.) If you need help getting your four-digit VUconnect code, email vuconnect@vanderbilt.edu or call the Help Desk at (615) 322-5578. Help is available weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST.
• When you have your code, enter it and click the Verify My Record button.
• If the system tells you your four-digit VUconnect code doesn’t match use the Back button on your process to go to the previous screen. Verify the information you entered, and try again.
• If you’re still told the code doesn’t match, click here and supply the biographical information requested. That information will go directly to Vanderbilt’s VUconnect administrator at our Help Desk. You’ll get an email from us when we’ve solved the problem, so please be sure to include your email address.
Step 4: Select your user name and password.
At this point, you have identified yourself and the system has acknowledged that you are authorized to register. You’ll now complete the registration form, including the selection of your VUconnect user name and password that you’ll use to access VUconnect on all future visits. You’ll also be asked to provide an email address and your mother’s maiden name (for validation purposes in case you forget your user name and password). And you’ll be asked to agree to the terms and conditions for users of VUconnect.
About your user name and password
• Your user ID and password must be different. Both are case-sensitive.
• Once you’ve selected your user ID, it can’t be changed.
• Passwords must be at least 6 (and no more than 20) characters long. You can change your password at any time after registering (in the Account Services area).
All users of VUconnect are expected to adhere to certain norms in their use of the system, their interaction with other users, and their treatment of the information that the system provides. In order to register for VUconnect, you must first read and agree to these terms and conditions. To acknowledge your agreement, select the Accept button on the registration form when asked the question "Do you accept the above terms and conditions?"
