Spam and Spoofs: Spammers are becoming more and more creative in finding you. You may have noticed it has become increasingly difficult to prevent spam from reaching your "destination" email address, i.e. the mailbox/address to which email sent to your permanent email address is forwarded. Since your permanent email address is simply a forwarding service, your first line of defense should be to always review the spam control offered through your ISP or email provider and set your personal filtering levels to those appropriate for your needs. We do not filter spam as that could also result in the loss of legitimate email.

Spoofing is a technique used to make a message appear as if it came from an authorized address, website, or company. Forms requesting personal information via email or that indicate your account has been suspended are often spoof emails. You should always verify the destination before providing personal information via email. In order to combat spoofs, frequently scan your computer for viruses and make sure your virus software, operating system, and browser patches are up to date. Never open an attachment that is suspect.
