Our club was started 45 years ago in Perth Amboy as "The Raritan Valley Club" with events like dinner dances or lectures by speakers from Penn. Our Secondary Schools Committee also dates back from this time.
Howard Dimond took over leadership of the club about 30 years ago, moved it south to Princeton and renamed it "The Penn Alumni Club of Central New Jersey" and re-focused it to encompass Middlesex, Somerset, and Mercer counties.
Herb Vine, our Club President for the past 20 years, has brought the club to a new level. He introduced activities such as sports (basketball games and football games) but maintained the strong emphasis on assisting Penn with applicant interviews, of which we still conduct nearly 300 each year.
The current Club President, Hasan Ansari (hasan@alumni.upenn.edu) has eagerly expanded activities into new areas but has maintained a focus on member-dictated choices.
Our current officers include Hasan, Herb (President Emeritus), Dick, Ralitsa, Sana, Hina, Pat, and Sharon.
