UNC License Plate Project Cancelled

The state of Georgia imposes a two-year time limit to collect 1,000 pre-paid applications in order to make available a new collegiate license plate. The Atlanta Carolina Club, with assistance from the GAA, began the effort to collect the required number of pre-paid applications beginning in March 2009. During the following two years, the GAA sent several e-mail broadcasts to all alumni and friends in Georgia, covered the story in the Carolina Alumni Review and occasionally featured the project prominently online. Local Carolina Clubs throughout Georgia sent numerous additional e-mail messages about this project and placed fliers out at events. Hundreds of personal phone calls and e-mails were sent, especially from dedicated volunteers in the Atlanta area trying to encourage participation. Unfortunately, at the end of the two years, only about 650 applications were collected. Thanks go out to our Atlanta Carolina Club and the leadership of Barry Burt '78 for spearheading the charge to make this opportunity available. Questions?
