The premium resources listed below are provided for Union College alumni by special arrangement with the vendors, and are designated for personal use. You must be logged into the Alumni Online Community to access these databases. See Borrowing Privileges for Alumni for Schaffer Library general policies.


Academic Search Alumni Edition - Provides full text for more than 3,500 publications - including more than 3,000 peer-reviewed journals - as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 8,200 publications in a broad range of academic disciplines.  This database offers information in nearly every area of academic study, including: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Psychology, Religion, Theology, and more.


Business Source Alumni Edition -  Provides access to nearly 1,450 full-text business magazines and journals—of which over 750 are peer-reviewed— Business Source Alumni Edition was created specifically to meet the business research needs of the post-college professional.  This database contains publications from nearly every area of business, including: Marketing, Management, Accounting, Econometrics, Economics, and more.

Business Review - Customized for Union College, the Business Review portal includes access to 40 business journals across the U.S. and automatic updates throughout the day with breaking business news in the Capital Region. With Best Places To Work guides; 40 Book of Lists resource books; People on the Move sections; and more. Sign up for a personal account and receive customized local and national news or customize a news feed based on companies and industries you want to follow.

Reference USAprovides business and consumer data to academic institutions across the nation, with real-time access to accurate, in-depth information on 24 million U.S. businesses and 1.5 million Canadian Businesses. Find new business opportunities, research executives and companies, find news articles, conduct job searches, research papers, locate addresses and phone numbers, conduct market research and much more.

RefWorks  - A web-based tool for managing references and bibliographical information, that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files, online databases, or other sources. You may then automatically format bibliographies in one of many different citation styles.


 To Create a New RefWorks Account under the Alumni Program [Existing users see the contact information below]:

1. Navigate to www.refworks.com/refworks
2. In the Remote Access area, enter the current Group Code: RWAlumni and click the Go to Login button.
3. On the RefWorks User Login for RefWorks Alumni Site page, click on the Sign Up for an Individual Account link.
4. Complete the required information making sure to select the name of the Organization your alumni status is affiliated with in the User Type drop-down.
5. Click the Register button when finished. You will be brought into your new, empty RefWorks account.
