University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Alumni Association Board of Directors 2010-2011 Committee Descriptions
Executive Committee
To provide leadership and direction to the Alumni Association. To act on behalf of the Board of Directors as appropriate during special and emergency situations requiring immediate action; To function as a forum for the Officers to discuss key policy issues in preparation for Board meetings; To provide input and direction to staff regarding the preparation of annual budgets; To review and recommend budget priorities to the Board and oversight to staff regarding all financial matters.
Homecoming Committee
To provide direction and input to staff and the Board of Directors regarding the annual Homecoming Weekend; To identify and recruit Alumni volunteers to participate in Homecoming events; To sponsor and/or host various activities; To recommend themes, events and activities; To recommend resources needed for the local regional and national promotion of Homecoming to the Alumni.
Alumni Outreach Committee
To assist the Alumni Association in coordination of events which foster the mission and objectives of the association; To study, plan, sponsor and host along with Alumni Association Board and UMD staff, events which provide Alumni Association members opportunities to interface with students, faculty and the greater community, including identification of career opportunities for students and alumni.
Nomination Committee
To oversee the annual election of Officers and Directors for the Alumni Association Board as outlined in the by-laws; To maintain responsibility for the tabulation of the ballots and notification to the candidates of the election results; To recommend to the full Board of Directors, individuals to serve as officers of the corporation; To coordinate events and activities focused solely on recruiting active alumni and new members to the board.
Fundraising/Events Committee
To provide oversight and direction regarding Alumni Association events which do not pertain to Homecoming Weekend; To create initiatives, which will generate revenues for the advancement of University in general, and the Alumni Endowment/Alumni Scholarship in particular.
Scholarship/Awards Committee
To provide oversight and direction to the staff regarding the Alumni Scholarship program; To assist the staff and provide oversight regarding the process of recruiting students for consideration of the scholarships; To review student applications and make recommendations for scholarship awards; To coordinate and identify Alumni for consideration as recipients of the annual Alumni Awards.
