Ways to Give

Supporting UMass Boston is easy . . . but making a gift may be the most important thing you do today, this month, or even this year. See why.

There are more ways to support UMass Boston than you may have considered. Many involve estate planning or other non-cash giving instruments. A cash gift entitles you to the most generous federal income tax charitable deduction of up to 50 percent of adjusted gross income. Donors who channel their gifts through a private foundation are invited to give via the University of Massachusetts Foundation.This is because private foundations are required by law to make their gifts to a 501(c)(3) entity, which is an IRS-defined nonprofit organization.

Send a check or money order, made payable to UMass Boston Fund. For a gift designated for a specific purpose, please make your check payable to UMass Boston and make an additional notation of the gift 's purpose in the memo field.

Credit Card

Credit card gifts are not only convenient, they entitle you to the same income-tax deduction
as gifts of cash. Consider making your giving an ongoing part of your life by selecting "monthly gift " on our online form or letting us know by phone. You may make a credit card gift online or pledge by phone at 617.287.5395 or 617.287.5320
during business hours, Monday-Friday 8:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Stock

Gifts of appreciated securities provide financial support to UMass Boston, as well as tax benefits for the donor. Please contact Deirdre McNamee, director of finance, resource management, and advancement services, at 617.287.5332 if you would like to support the university through a gift of stock. It is most helpful if you clearly note the designation of the funds, so that we can properly allocate your gift.

Pledges

Keep in mind that, to make your giving to UMass Boston easier, we are pleased to accept pledges and can work with you to plan a convenient schedule of payments. Pledges are accepted for gifts of $1,000 or more. A $1,000 gift, which makes donors eligible for the Chancellor's Council, can be paid over twelve months. Gifts over $1,000 or more can be paid over a schedule of two to five years. An endowment may be established with a minimum pledge of $25,000.
