Celebrating 20th Anniversary of Meeting Children's Needs
Help provide deserving elementary school children with school supplies by giving to the 2010 Operation School Supplies campaign. Sponsor a single child, sponsor an entire district, or give the amount that's right for you. At any level, know you're helping educate Houston's youth.
Sponsoring a child for an entire year's worth of school supplies only cost $25. Sponsoring a classroom cost $100, only $500 for a school, or $1,000 for an entire district. No matter the amount that's right for you, your gift is priceless to the recipient(s). The University of Houston Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization, and as such, all gifts to UHAA are tax-deductible.
Now in its 20th year, OSS annually raises approximately $1.75 million worth of school supplies. Last year, this benefited 32,000 students in 330 schools and 31 districts. The following school districts received supplies: Alief, Aldine, Alvin, Channelview, Cleveland, Clear Creek, Conroe, Cypress Fairbanks, Deer Park, Fort Bend, Galena Park, Galveston, Goose Creek, Houston, Humble, Katy, Klein, La Porte, Lamar Consolidated, Magnolia, Montgomery, New Caney, North Forest, Pasadena, Pearland, Sheldon, Spring Branch, Spring, Texas City, Tomball and Waller.
Donate Supplies
All donations to the 2010 Operation School Supplies campaign go toward purchasing school supplies. But you can cut out the middle man by donating supplies themselves! We will have a list of all donation hubs up soon.
Sort and Box Day
...
It takes an army of volunteers to get all these supplies into the hands of children. Sort and Box Day is where alumni, faculty, staff, students, and community leaders gather to box up all the donated and purchased supplies. It's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun.
Join us Saturday, August 14 at 8:00 a.m. in the Athletics/Alumni Center on the University of Houston campus. Breakfast will be provided. And remember to dress comfortably.
