COEAA 2006 ELECTIONS NOW OPEN!
Nominations are open for five director positions (two-year terms) that will open in July 2006. Officers are chosen from among their fellow directors. Participating on the Board offers an opportunity to learn more about the college, become an advocate for education and participate in the governance of the organization. Election for directors will be held at the membership meeting on May 15, 2006. Email Mark Fukeda at mark.fukeda@uhf.hawaii.edu or call 956-7988 for more information.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MAY 15, 2006:
COEAA members are invited to attend the general memberhip meeting on Monday, May 15 on the UH Manoa campus of the College of Education. The meeting will take place in the newly named Everly Hall (formerly Wist Annex 2), conference rooms 123-124 at 4pm. The agenda includes the election of five new directors, voting on amendments to the by-laws, and a lively discussion on university matters.

POSTED 12/05 COEAA PROMOTES MEMBERSHIP**********************************************
The College of Education Alumni Association participated in the HSTA-Oahu Teacher Institute Day last October, to promote the association and to encourage teachers to join the University of Hawai‘i Alumni Association and the College of Education Alumni Association chapter. Several teachers did join and many others inquired about programs offered by the college. Many teachers assumed that because they graduated from the University of Hawai‘i they were automatically members of the Alumni Association and were surprised to learn that membership is by enrollment, with a fifty-dollar-a-year dues payment. By joining the University Alumni Association/College of Education Chapter, members are able to participate in the chapter's governance and the UH alumni activities and special offerings including golf, tours, bookstore purchases, Kennedy Theater shows, etc.
This year's College of Education's Alumni Association leaders are President Odetta Fujimori, Vice-President Janet Ishikawa-Fullmer, Secretary Dee Ann Ling, and Treasurer Esther Shigezawa. Board members include Charlie Araki, Mona Chock, Ichiro Fukumoto, Karen Ginoza, Thelma Nip, and past-president Don Nugent. Ex-officio members are Dean Randy Hitz and Mark Fukuda. Educators and friends of education are encouraged to join the College of Education Alumni Association and to support its programs and goals.
