Frederick Chapman (1978)
Fred Chapman (AAT '76 Honolulu; BS '78 Manoa) recently retired from the U.S. Army on Feb. 11, 2008, and the State of South Carolina on June 27, 2008. Future plans include developing a Pre-Bucket List, and consulting as Chapman Counseling and Training Services.  Click here for photo

Sandra (Tsukiyama) De Oliveira (1975) and her group, Jazz Braz, presented musical offerings from Brazil in a concert titled "Remembering Rio" at Hawai'i Public Radio's Atherton Performing Arts Studio.

Mohammad Umar (1966) retired as professor of marketing management and principal at Zakir Hussain Post Graduate Evening College at the University of Delhi in India. He is now engaged in community work and education.

Paul Sugimoto (1960)
Paul Sugimoto (1960) retired after 10 years as executive director of the Aloha Section PGA. He is proud of the growth of the Hawai'i section, one of 41 in the nation under the aegis of the PGA of America. There are now 190 members with 65 apprentices in the local section.  Click here for photo

Harry Correa (1981)
Harry Correa (1981) is a lifetime member of UHAA, a retired U.S. Navy Chief (20 years), and health care director for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (15 years). He and his wife Marie established residency in Mountain View on the Big Island in January 2007.  Click here for photo

Stewart Burley (1986)
Stewart Burley (1986) has retired after 46 years with the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands and is planning to return to college to pursue a degree in business. Upon retirement, he became a consultant for some high tech companies located on Kaua'i, Washington DC, and California. Burley also assists Waimea High School's senior science class with ocean science. Together, they built the first underwater robot on Kaua'i. He also mentors the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Rocket Club and joined the UH Manoa Space Grant Consortium.

Keonilei Fairbanks (2005) was crowned Miss Aloha Hula 2007 at the Merrie Monarch Festival.

Paul Yokota (1979)
Paul Yokota (1979), TIM Alumni Association President and General Manager of the Hawai'i Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, recently fulfilled a life ambition by releasing his first CD entitled "Full Moon Eyes," a collection of mostly original compositions.

Bruce Erickson (1967)
Bruce Erickson (1967) and Jackie Mahi Erickson (1977) recently learned that their "Painting of Hilo Bay," by Joseph Nawahi was worth $100,000 to $150,000 on the TV program "Antiques Roadshow." They decided that they wanted the painting to be freely available to the public, and that they wanted to gift to somehow benefit Native Hawaiians, so they donated the painting to Kamehameha Schools. In return, Kamehameha will endow a scholarship in Nawahi's name.  Click here for photo

Ian Chu (1980) writes, "Ian CHU (MBA 1980) is elected Director of Strategic Development of the Hong Kong University Graduate Association. Ian is responsible for long-term planning and development of the Association."

Sonja Tam (2002)
Sonja Tam (2002) was crowned 2007 Miss Chinatown Hawai'i Queen, in a pageant sponsored by the United Chinese Society of Hawai'i. She received a $12,000 tuition scholarship from Hawai'i Pacific University, and will represent Hawai'i at the 2007 Miss Chinatown USA pageant in San Francisco in February. Tam currently works at Hawaiian Telcom as a business sales support specialist contractor.  Click here for photo

Ian Santee (1999)
Ian Santee (1999) is a county paramedic who works out of the ambulance station at St. Francis Medical Center in Liliha. He and his ambulance partner tend to patients whose often dire situations cover the spectrum from birth to death, yet he maintains an objectivity about his job and claims he does not dwell on any of it when he goes home after work. Santee is also an instructor at Kapiolani Community College, where he teaches how to be a paramedic and provides medical training to county lifeguards.  Click here for photo

Wendy (Wakuya) Nakamura (1984) writes, "Wendy C. Nakamura (Wakuya)(Communications, 1985) recently returned to Honolulu with her husband after living in Orange County, CA for 20 years. She is a Leadership Development Consultant/Coach and principal of FORESIGHT Leadership Development, LLC. William Rhyne (1977)
William Rhyne (1977) writes, "My wife, Callie, and I are living in Sebastopol, California. I am teaching marketing management at John F. Kennedy University while working on my business doctoral degree, a DBA degree, at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. I still keep my musical chops fresh though. I play music with The Kapalakiko Hawaiian Band all over northern California so it keeps me connected with the overseas Hawaiian community."  Click here for photo

Kimberly Bevers (1986) has been working as an actress in the UK for the past 17 years. Bevers attended Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London after graduating from UH Manoa with a BA in Drama and Theatre in 1986.

Gregory Pai (1967)
Dr. Gregory Pai (1967) completed his BA in Architecture in 1967 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Pai then took a leave of absence for three years from a graduate program at the Yale School of Architecture to serve in the US Peace Corps in South Korea. After returning to the US, Pai completed his Masters of Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a PHD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Pai then worked as a regional economist for the Bureau of Economic Analysis in the Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. Upon returning to Hawaii in 1982, Pai worked as the Chief Economist for First Hawaiian Bank, was the Special Assistant for Economic Affairs under Gov. Waihee, and served as the Director of Office of State Planning and the Governor's Special Assistant for Policy Development under Gov. Cayetano. Pai also served as a Commissioner in the Hawaii State Public Utilities Commission. Pai is currently retired, and spends much of his time fixing up an old house, indulging in art and music, and teaching and studying the art of meditation.
