	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Haruki is President of Verizon Hawai'i, the state's leading telecommunications company.  Among his many community commitments, he is the current chairman of the University of Hawai'i Foundation and has been a supporter of numerous academic and athletic University programs for years.  Haruki also serves on the boards of First Hawaiian Bank, Pacific Guardian Life Insurance, The Queen's Health Systems, Hawai'i Business Roundtable, and the Aloha Council of Boy Scouts of America.  He is a past chairman of the Hawai'i Chamber of Commerce and is currently vice president of the Blood Bank of Hawai'i.  In 2001, Warren was honored as 'Distinguished Citizen of the Year' by the Boy Scouts.  Haruki received his MBA from the University of Hawai'i in 1977.",

	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  In addition to being one of the Founders of Finance Factors Family of Companies, Lau is also the Director and Chairman of the Board.  He is a Trustee of the UH Foundation and a Director of the East-West Foundation.  A former UH baseball batting champion and track medalist, and a 1995 and 2000 Senior Softball World Champion, Lau is a strong supporter of UH Athletics programs, youth sports, and the Special Olympics. A World War II combat veteran, Lau received numerous honors, including the Chinese 'Father of the Year,' UH Business School Outstanding Alumni, and McKinley High School Hall of Honor.  He is former President of the Hawaiian Humane Society, Chairman of United Church of Christ, Vice President of the American Council of Life Insurance Hawai'i, and Director of American Security Bank. He received a BA in Business Economics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1941.",

With more than ten years of professional experience in environmental graphic design, he has worked on a wide variety of national and international projects.  A tireless community member, he is the co-founder of the Hawai'i Chamber of Commerce of Northern California and a board member of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California.  Osaki has also organized the very successful West Coast alumni/UH football mainland Homecoming events.  He received a BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1988.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Tanoue is Vice Chairman of financial services for Bank of Hawai'i.  She was appointed by President Clinton as Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and her tenure from 1998-2001 was viewed as 'one of the most insightful and productive in the 68-year history of the FDIC.' In Hawai'i, Tanoue served as Special Deputy Attorney General to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.  She was a member of the UH Board of Regents from 1995-1998. She was a partner in the law firm Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel and was named Outstanding Woman Lawyer of the Year 2000 by the Hawai'i Women Lawyers Association.  Tanoue received a BA in English from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1976.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award) Chef Wong is a world-renowned chef and master of Hawai'i Regional Cuisine. He is known for his unique creative flair and fusing of French culinary techniques with local and Asian ideas. He established Alan Wong's restaurant in 1995 and has made it one of the top restaurants in Hawai'i; it has received first place in the Hale 'Aina Awards for five of the last six years. Gourmet magazine also named it as one of the nation's best -- ranking as number 6 in the top fifty restaurants throughout the US. Chef Wong has received many other awards, including the 1996 James Beard Award as Best Chef in the Pacific Northwest. He is active in many professional and community organizations and programs.  He received an AS in Food Service from Kapi'olani Community College in 1979",
	"(UH Founders Alumni Association Lifetime Achievement Award)  Fong was the first Chinese American to serve in the U.S. Senate.  A son of Chinese immigrants, he is a graduate of the University of Hawai'i and Harvard Law School.  His political career began in 1938 with his election to the House of the Hawai‘i Territorial Legislature, serving as its Speaker for 6 years of his 14-year tenure.  He represented Hawai'i from 1959 to 1977 as a U.S. Senator.  The recipient of numerous national and international degrees and awards from American and foreign universities and governments, he is also a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and chairman of the Board of Directors of Finance Enterprises, Ltd., Market City, Ltd., and several of Hawai'i's most venerable companies.
