His philanthropic activities include establishing a $250,000 scholarship endowment at the University of Hawai'i, in addition to founding the Everlasting Private Foundation, the Chan Family Fund with the Community Foundation of Santa Clara County, and the China Light Foundation. 	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award) Flores is known for leading L & L Drive-Inn, which he developed into a chain of 40 restaurants in less than a decade. He is the Chair of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, the Fund-Raising Committee for the Filipino Community Center, and the Small Business Assistance Program for the Filipino Chamber of Commerce.  Flores founded the Filipino Fiesta and Parade and a micro-enterprise training program.  He is the Director of Goodwill Industries of Honolulu, the American Red Cross Hawai'i Chapter, and Aloha United Way.  Throughout the University of Hawai'i system, Flores taught real estate, investments, management, travel, and business appraisal courses. He received multiple awards and honors including the Hawai'i Association of Realtors Highest Rated Instructor and Educator of the Year Award, Hawaii Small Business Administration Business Person of the Year Award, and the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i Entrepreneur and Director of the Year Award. 	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Kim became the first woman in the Republic of South Korea to head a government ministry and the first non-physician to head the country's Ministry of Health and Welfare. She won awards for her work in Korea such as the Korean Nurses Association Highest Achievement Award and the Korean government's National Decoration 'Moran' Medal.  Kim is a professor and former dean of both the School of Nursing and Graduate School of Health Sciences and Management at Yonsei University.  The World Health Organization presented her with the Sasakawa Health Prize in 1994.  She is a member of the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars. Her community involvement includes serving as past president of the International Council of Nurses and Planned Parenthood Federation of Korea, vice president of the Korean Red Cross Society, and member of the Korean National Assembly's Committee of Health and Social Affairs. Kim is the first graduate of the UHM School of Public Health's Maternal and Child Health Training Program.  She is also a past recipient of the East-West Center Distinguished Alumni Award.  Kim received a MS in Public Health from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1967.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award) Nakamura is a 28-year veteran of the Honolulu Police Department where he served as Chief of Police.  His guidance and support produced successful programs, including Crimes Against Tourists, which helped ensure the safety of Hawai'i's visitors. Nakamura uses his experience to serve the University of Hawai'i in the Honolulu Community College Administration of Justice Program where he serves as a lecturer on government operations, focusing on policy.  He also advises UHM students.  He was recognized by the Law Enforcement and Security Coalition, Hawai'i Chapter of American Society for Public Administration, and the Rotary Club of Ala Moana.  Nakamura is also an honorary member of the Iota Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences at Chaminade University.  He is a former member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Western States Information Network Policy Board.  He currently serves on the board of the Blood Bank of Hawai'i and Parents and Children Together.",

He is a member of the clinical faculty of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, the School of Public Health, and the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i.  Dr. Shintani is President of the Hawai'i Health Foundation and director of preventive medicine at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.  He authored seven books and dozens of articles, and his program is featured in numerous publications, including the Encyclopedia Britannica.  He is the recipient of the Food Hero award from Eating Well magazine, the Ka'onohi Award for public service in Hawaiian health from Papa Ola Lokahi, and the highest national award for health promotion in the community from the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
