He received a BA in Business and Economics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1951.",

He is the former Director of the Hawai'i State Department of Transportation, former Managing Director of the City and County of Honolulu, and former President of Hirata, Shimabukuro & Associates and Honolulu Woodtreating Company.  He was Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve.  Hirata was Chairman of the committee that organized the UH Engineering Alumni Association.  He is also a member of the UH ROTC Alumni Association, UH Foundation, Hui Kokua Kinipopo, and Na Koa.  He is active with numerous community organizations, such as the Aloha United Way, Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America, The Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, amongst others.  Hirata received a BS in Engineering from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1956 and was in the Advanced Management Program in 1983.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Izutsu is a Professor of Public Health and Psychiatry at the University of Hawai'i and Associate Dean of the John A. Burns School of Medicine.  He is the former head of the International Health Program at the UH School of Public Health and consultant to the World Health Organization and numerous other international organizations.  He served as a volunteer in Yugoslavia and Romania for the American Field Service Committee and World Vision International.  Dr. Izutsu is also former Superintendent of Waimano Training School and Hospital and the Regional Medical Program of Hawai'i and the Pacific Basin.  He is former Vice President for Geriatric Care Services of the Kuakini Health System.  A retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps Reserves, Dr. Izutsu serves on the boards of Homeless Aloha, Inc., the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, Hawai'i Chapter, and the Lanakila Rehabilitation Center.  He received a BA in Psychology and a Professional Certificate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1950.  He also received his MA from Columbia University in 1955 and PhD from Case-Western Reserve University in 1963.",

He was Chairman of the 1992 Aloha United Way Campaign and serves on the boards of the Bishop Museum, Blood Bank of Hawai'i, Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i, and the Institute for Human Services.  He was Chairman of the Hawai'i Visitors Bureau and Hawai'i Heart Association and was President of the Waikiki Improvement Association.  Johnson graduated from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa with a BBA in 1963 and a diploma from the Advanced Management Program in 1978.",

He was the Vice President for Public Relations and Business Development with Castle and Cooke Properties and was Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development & Tourism (DPED) for the State of Hawai'i.  Keith was also the first graduate of the Hawai'i public school system to be selected as a Rhodes Scholar.  In 1992, he was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of America by the United States Jaycees.  He currently serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Higher Education Functional Plan.  Keith received his JD from the William Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1977, a BA from Harvard University in 1970 and a BA and MA from Oxford University in 1972 and 1977, respectively.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Dr. Malahoff is a Professor in the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawai'i.  Since 1984, he has raised more than $22 million through research grants in deep submergence.  Dr. Malahoff was instrumental in obtaining the PISCES V deep diving submersible and the underwater robotic vehicle (RCV-150) for Hawai'i as well as obtaining funds for the construction of the University of Hawai'i submersible support ship Kaimikai-O-Kanaloa.  He also successfully built the Hawai'i Undersea Research Laboratory.  Dr. Malahoff is past President of the Hawaiian Academy of Sciences and is Vice President of the University of Hawai'i Professional Assembly.  He received a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 1965 and holds a BSC in Geology from University of New Zealand and a MSC in Geology from Victoria University of Wellington." );
