	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award)  Neil Abercrombie is a member of the United States House of Representatives for the State of Hawai'i.  Abercrombie began his political career in the Hawai'i State House of Representatives in 1974. After two terms in the State House, he was elected to the State Senate, where he served for eight years. He chaired the Senate committees on Education, Higher Education, and Human Services. He also served on the Honolulu City Council from 1988 to 1990. Congressman Abercrombie is known for his commitment to serving many of Hawai'i's communities and has received numerous awards for his public service.  He received a BA in Sociology from Union College, an MA in Sociology from the University of Hawai'i - Manoa in 1964, and a PhD in American Studies from the University of Hawai'i in 1974",

A son of Chinese immigrants, he is a graduate of the University of Hawai'i and Harvard Law School.  His political career began in 1938 with his election to the House of the Hawai'i Territorial Legislature, serving as its Speaker for 6 years of his 14-year tenure.  He represented Hawai'i from 1959 to 1977 as a U.S. Senator.  The recipient of numerous national and international degrees and awards from American and foreign universities and governments, he is also a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and chairman of the Board of Directors of Finance Enterprises, Ltd., Market City, Ltd., and several of Hawai'i's most venerable companies.  Senator Fong maintains an active schedule, spending his mornings working at Finance Enterprises and afternoons at his award winning nature preserve and bird sanctuary, Senator Fong's Plantation and Gardens.",

In 1990, she was appointed as first holder of Rockwell International Professorship in Systems Engineering at CSUF.  Dr. Kagiwada is internationally known for her scholarly work and support of women in engineering.  She received both her BS in Mathematics in 1959 and her MS in Physics in 1960 from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.",
	"(UH Distinguished Alumni Award ) Matsuda served as the President of the University of Hawai'i from 1974-1984 and was Executive Director of the University's Research Corporation (RCUH).  Matsuda also served as Director of the State Department of Transportation under Governor John Burns. He retired as President of the Japan America Institute for Management. Matsuda sits on the Boards of First Hawaiian Bank, C. Brewer & Co., and the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific.  He is a combat veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.",
