In September 2005 we held the first meeting of The Fletcher Club of Buenos Aires, aided by Tara Lewis, J.D., Associate Director, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, The Fletcher School. Present at Malasartes -- "Dark Arts", a bar in the neighborhood of Palermo -- and heretofore known as Founding Members were:
Jose M. Amiune, F'80 (resides Argentina) Professor, Universidad Nacional 3 de Febrero
Tamas Landesz, F'04 (Peru) Regional Advisor for South America, Oxfam International

Luis A. F. Wetzler, F'87 (Argentina) Senior Legal Counsel, International Financial Affairs, Central Bank of Argentina
Since then the club's membership has grown very quickly and in unexpected ways. Fletcher alum in other countries in the region have asked to be added to the member list, revealing a pent-up desire to stay in touch with fellow alumni. And while our member list is dotted with PhDs, cabinet ministers, members of parliament and ambassadors, the club is essentially informal and does not stand on ceremony.
We are emerging as a regional club with common ties: a passion for international relations, a desire to generate intelligent debate on matters concerning not just Argentina but the region, and making the best use of this network to achieve great things in our cultures.
