Leilani Mroczkowski 2009-10 Scholarship Recipient

Leilani Mroczkowski of Lowell, Indiana has been selected the 2009-10 recipient of the club's annual scholarship award. The scholarship is awarded on a need basis to a local student attending SU as an upper classman and is in good academic standing with the University. The club congratulates Leilani on her scholarship award and wishes her every success in her junior year at SU as she pursues a major in Anthropology.

Club Hosts Successful Student Send Off

On August 8th the club played host to several new and current SU students, their parents and families with a cook-out and celebration of Orange. In total 30 people attended the event including several alumni club members,. As has become tradition, Juri and Judy Tults, both members of the class of 1980 hosted the event.

The afternoon included dogs and burgers on the grill, side dishes, plenty of cold soda and a special SU celebration cake for all th enjoy. New students attending the event received special welcome gifts from the club that included SU-branded thumb drives, student notebooks, writing pens, plus Otto Orange tattoos and SU Bookstore gift certificates.

For all in attendance numerous door SU-branded prizes were given out including playing cards, coffee mugs, T-shirt and more.

SU and the Arts

The SUArt Galleries will present "On the Edge of Clear Meaning"—the first retrospective exhibition of photographer John Wood—at the Shaffer Art Building from Oct. 29 to Jan. 10. The exhibition "Winslow Homer's Empire State: Houghton Farm and Beyond" will be on view at the Palitz Gallery of SU's Joseph I. Lubin House in New York City from Nov. 9 to Dec. 6.
