UPCOMING FALL 2009 COLLEGE BOWL NETWORKING EVENT!
SU ACT HISTORY:
Our group formed in early 2007 to connect with the over 500 Syracuse University Alumni in the Greater Toronto Area.
Our most recent event held on June 18th was for our Toronto Whitman MBA Alumni who were invited to a Cross-MBA Mixer (unique Canadian collegial event!) from the following schools: Columbia, Harvard, IMD, INSEAD, London School of Economics, Northwestern, Stanford, Syracuse, Tuck and the University of Chicago. It was a fun event held at the large patio outside Pure Spirits Restaurant in the Distillery District.
On June 6 we hosted a screening of the independent film, NOBODY, written and directed by Shawn Linden. This film was one of the top rated films at the Syracuse Film Festival and was brought to us by Syracuse Film Professor, Owen Shapiro, who spoke and answered questions. We had over 40 people in attendance including representatives from the Syracuse University Office of Alumni Relations. It was a great night for connecting with other GTA alumni.
On February 6th the SU ACT came together for food and and adult beverages at the Fan Sports Cafe for the SU vs. UConn Basketball Game. Over 20 Alumni participated in this fun evening event.
On November 19, 2007 the SU ACT and the Penn/Wharton Club of Toronto hosted G. Richard Shell, Thomas Gerrity Professor of Legal Studies, Business Ethics and Management at the Wharton School as he discussed the art of persuasion to sell your ideas through from his recent book: "the art of woo." Over 20 SU Alumni attended this event at the National Club.
On October 17, 2007, we held a networking event at the Granite Brew Pub in Toronto and attracted over 40 people.
In November of 2007, Alumni met at the Verity Club to listen to a enthralling lecture from SU Basketball Great Leo Rautins, Coach of the Canadian Olympic Basketball Team and TV Analyst for the Toronto Raptors.
In July, Alumni enjoyed a breakfast at Canoe Restaurant where various SU Representatives attended. We were honoured to have Dr. David Rubin, Dean of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications give a fascinating address on the University and its plans for the future.
