Jim Chester (1997), together with a handful of other STCL grads (and with the blessing of the STCL Alumni Office), has formed a social/networking group in Dallas to help foster a stronger sense of community among STCL Alumni in DFW. The group coordinates various networking events such as monthly happy hours and other social activities. James Langlais (1998)
Jim Langlais (1998) has recently formed Rosner & Langlais, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. Jim was previously a Partner at Alston & Bird, LLP. "My desire for a more flexible practice, lower overhead, and alternative billing arrangements drove me to leave the big law firm and open my own firm. I continue to practice all aspects of environmental law, real estate law, product liability law, and toxic torts, but have also expanded my practice to include advising young renewable energy companies. For the first time, I feel like I have "skin in the game", which has made me a better lawyer."  Click here for photo

Daniel Bolia (2008)
Daniel Bolia (2008, Valedictorian) recently co-authored an article that appeared in the Fall edition of the Texas Transnational Law Quarterly. The article is titled "Texas Two-Step or Mis-Step? How Texas Rule 122's General Appearance and Deemed-Service Provisions Violate International Law." The article is about the conflict between Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 122 and the federal procedures required by the Hague Service Convention when serving a defendant in certain foreign jurisdictions.

Carole (Landry) Stout (1983) writes, "I have a family law practice in Honolulu, Hawaii which I began in 1994. (see www.caroledlandry.com) Between 1983 and 1994 I was a prosecutor both in Texas and Hawaii, and also did some construction litigation. I also operate "Hawaii Conferences and Retreats" which fully assists professionals who wish to hold a conference or a retreat on the islands. (see www.hawaiiconferencesandretreats.com). I live in Honolulu with my husband and son, but do visit Texas often to see family and friends."

Lesli (Gordon) Barber (2000) and Jimmy Fitzpatrick are happy to announce their marriage on October 3, 2009 at the Daniel Caswell House in Austin, Texas. They currently reside in Austin, Texas. Lesli R. Fitzpatrick (formerly Barber) was given in marriage by her son Barry Barber on Saturday, October 3, 2009. She and her new husband Jimmy Fitzpatrick (an electrical engineer and Lamar University graduate)enjoyed a one week stay at the Marriott Resort in Kauai, Hawaii. They will continue to reside in Austin, Texas where Lesli works as the Litigation Manager and Staff Attorney for the Texas General Land Office.

Amy (Delaney) Husted (1996)
Tyler Dan Goolsby, 27, of Houston, Texas passed away on July 4, 2009 in Washington, DC. Tyler was born on April 2, 1982 in Thomasville, GA to Robert Goolsby and Diann (Nixon) Goolsby. Tyler was a lifelong resident of the Houston area and graduated from Dobie High School in 2000. Tyler graduated from the University of Houston in 2004 and then from South Texas College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 2009. Tyler was a former manager and server at Pappas Seafood in Webster, Texas and a member of two local dance companies. He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Goolsby, grandmother Faye Goolsby, grandfather Edward Nixon, Sr., uncle Mike Wright, and aunt Carol Brock. Tyler is survived by his parents Robert and Diann Goolsby of Crosby, TX, siblings Bryce Goolsby and wife Danielle of Houston, and Hillary DeJohn and husband Jason of Houston. Tyler is also survived by his favorite eight, his nieces and nephews Audrey, Jacob, Annabelle, and Robert DeJohn, Joseph, Ephram, Melinda, and Stephanie Goolsby. His grandparents Leonard Goolsby of Cairo, GA, and Geneva Nixon of Pelham, GA, and his aunts and uncles Louis Goolsby, MD and wife Kay of Macon, GA, Clarence Nixon, Jr. and wife Olivia of Pasadena, TX, Neva Jane Wright of Havana, FL, and Janet Hoffman and husband Steve of Groveland, FL, and honorary family John, Janet and Carrie Wantuch, Wes, Shannon and Jack Woodruf all of Sugar Land, TX, and Paul and Deborah Caruselle of Spring, TX. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 from 5-8PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, TX 77562. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10AM at Community Baptist Church in Crosby, TX lead by Pastor Robert J. Williams. Burial will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands, TX. For more information please visit www.sterlingwhite.com.

Joseph Zopolsky (2001)
Joseph D. Zopolsky (2001), a partner with the law firm Sandbote, Waggoner & Zopolsky, P.C. in Dallas, Texas was awarded a Masters degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University in August 2008. Over the past three years, Joe flew to Lubbock, Texas on weekends to attend classes in a program designed to accommodate attorneys and other professionals working full time.

James Passamano (1990)
In Summer 2009, James Passamano was a visiting fellow at Cambridge University's Lauterpacht Center for International Law in Cambridge, England. James researched the law of the polar regions, and spent two weeks in the Arctic Circle during July 2009.
