Alma Mater

You're listening to Susquehanna's Alma Mater sung by the
University Choir at Carnegie Hall on March 7, 2008.

Alma Mater

The story we would tell you, friend, would cover many a book;
The subject matter of the same is found in ev'ry nook
Of old S.U.'s broad campus,
The common battle ground,
whose trees might whisper secrets grave
Amusing and profound.

Chorus
Of Susquehanna now we sing,
Let Susquehanna's praises ring.
Loyal to her by night and by noon,
We'll raise the Orange and Maroon.
Loyal to her by night and by noon,
We'll raise the Orange and Maroon.

Alma mater is Latin for "nourishing mother." Susquehanna's Alma Mater was penned in 1928 by E. Edwin Sheldon, director of the Conservatory, founder of the Susquehanna Musical Union and organizer of the Glee Club.
