William Hoffman (1970) writes, "Bill Hoffman, co-author of The Stem Cell Dilemma: Beacons of Hope or Harbingers of Doom?, will be featured on C-SPAN2 on Sunday, May 25, 2008 on the Book TV program airing at 1 p.m. Central time. A writer and editor in the University of Minnesota Medical School, Bill wrote the book with Leo Furcht, M.D., chairman of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School; Dr. Furcht is also a former president of the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology and holds key patents in the adult stem cell field. The Stem Cell Dilemma delivers the complete story of stem cell science, starting with Renaissance artist, engineer and anatomist Leonardo da Vinci to the present. The authors explain the latest developments in stem cell science and how it can revolutionize the world of medicine with new treatments and cures for devastating injuries and disease. Jim Jagielski (1962)
Jim Jagielski (1962) writes, "I have decided to hang it up after serving 45 years in the Army (military career, retiring from the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and now as a member of the Army Civilian Corps). I retired from the Army Management Staff College at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, on March 31, 2008. I was the director of the advanced course (department chair in civilian university terms) for an adult leadership and education program for senior Department of the Army civilians across the world.
“Now it is time to travel, visit the grandchildren, fish, bike and play golf.
“We have three children. They live in Sydney, Australia; Portland, Oregon; and Mission Viejo, California. And we have six grandchildren.
“My wife, Judy, and I live in Springfield, VA, just 20 miles from Washington, DC, in Northern Virginia. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary last year. If you are in the area, come visit.”
