Programs

We have a variety of longstanding popular programs, but there's always room for something new. Program Committee Chair, Patricia Lutz (plutz1121@aol.com) invites your suggestions (and offers of help!) for planning and implementing this year's programs.

Survey - to help us learn what programs members prefer. Please take survey by clicking here.

Book Group
The Book Group meets in members' homes monthly, usually the third Wednesday of the month for an informal pot luck and book discussion, from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Click here for more information.

Alumnae Admissions Program
The Alumnae Admissions Committee works in cooperation with the Office of Admissions. It attempts to identify local high school students who are good candidates for college and encourage them to apply to Smith and, if accepted, to attend. In early fall, we sponsor the very popular workshop on writing the college application essay. It is open to all local high school students, parents, teachers and guidance counselors. In seventeen local high schools, the Alumnae Admissions Committee also coordinates the Smith Book Award, given each spring to an outstanding junior selected by the school.

Bed & Breakfast
Although the program is inactive due to a small pool of HCSC hosts, we are sometimes able to meet an ad hoc request for B&B. If a room is available, the per person rate is $50 for a single night (for multiple nights, the per-night rate is a bit less). For more information, please contact: renestar [at] gmail [dot] com. The funds go to our Endowed and Current Scholarship Funds to benefit local Smith students who qualify for financial aid. Click here for more information.

Graduate Alumni Group
For information call, Margo McMahon (M.E.D.'73) at (413) 256-8159 or email her at margo.mcmahon@dmh.state.ma.us.

Community Connections
Countless local alumnae give back to the community by volunteering in numerous organizations, both independently and in groups with other alumnae. The Board welcomes suggestions for ways in which HCSC can benefit local communities.
