Bahamas-born Antoni has left a celebrated performance trail from SoHo to Venice, converting private rituals – bathing, mopping, eating, sleeping – into obsessive process sculpture that exalts female pleasure, slams male-made minimalism and spoofs fine art traditions from painting to the classical bust. In In 1998 her body-based metaphors landed her a MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Award. |
