Ben Li (New York, 2003) writes, "On November 6th 2011, I was able to complete the ING New York Marathon 2011 in under 5 hours! The time was good enough to be listed in the New York Times list of people who broke the 5 hours mark.
Most people would start with smaller races first. I jumped from never running a race into a full marathon. I trained 6 long months for this. A month before the marathon, I injured my right foot from over-training. I took a month off to heal, but it didn't heal in time. I also had a slight cold on the day of the marathon, but nothing was going to stop me from finishing the marathon. "Pain is Temporary, Pride is Forever!" I was determined to finish. I had to do it for all my family and pace friends who was rooting for me. Hopefully other Pace alumni and students will be inspired to do the same. It was not easy at all, but we can do anything if we put our mind to it!"

Margaret V. Maher, 75, died peacefully at Mary Immaculate Hospital on June 22, 2007. Margaret's lifelong passion was nursing. She received her RN at Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing; BSN at St. John’s University and Certificate in Nurse Midwifery at Yale University. Assistant Professor emerita of nursing at Pace University since 2000, she was an assistant professor of nursing at the college from 1974-2000. It was evident to her family and friends that Margaret respected her students very much.
