Welcome to the Ohio University Women’s Club of Greater Cleveland!
Our club was founded in 1939, with the purpose of providing service to the university through the establishment of scholarships funds, specifically the Freshmen Scholarship to women in the Cleveland, Ohio, area attending Ohio University. We also offer the Ruth Fowler Brown Endowed Scholarship to upper class women. To date, we have awarded approximately 290 freshmen and upperclassmen scholarships, totaling over $398,000!
We also promote social contact among our members. The OUWC offers a number of events each year for all members. Our annual events include the Fall Auction and Brunch and the Spring Luncheon. Our major fundraiser is chartering buses to transport siblings to OU for Sibs’ Weekend. We also take part in a number of other events around Cleveland, including Cleveland Indians’ games, OU game watches and happy hours, WOW! Wade Oval Concert Series, Lolly the Trolley tours, and much more! Our events take place all over the exciting Greater Cleveland area!
There are 14 positions on the Board. Our club also has 3 sections (Northeast, Southwest, and Westside). Each section holds its own meetings or activities and has a section chair and other officers.

The OUWC is a non-profit service organization and it operates solely on annual membership dues. Membership to this club is open to any woman who has done resident work at Ohio University, the wife of any former resident student, and any friend of Ohio University. Ohio University Women’s Club 2012 Freshman Scholarship
We will be awarding a scholarship(s) to high school senior women from the Greater Cleveland area who will be attending Ohio University as freshmen in the fall of 2012.
These awards are based on the following criteria, along with an essay (see the application for more details):
? An unweighted 3.5 accumulated GPA on a scale of 4.0 for six semesters, and
? Obtain at least a 25 ACT and/or 1140 SAT.

This scholarship can range in value from partial scholarship, up to a full tuition scholarship, for the freshman year only. The maximum a student can receive is an amount, when considered with other awards, that totals tuition only. Since 1951, more than 100 such scholarships have been awarded to OU bound women!
All scholarship applications must be postmarked no later than Saturday, February 18, 2012.
