Welcome to ALL Singing Men of Ohio Alumni and Friends! Our new Society is aimed to assist & support the Singing Men of Ohio (formally the Ohio University Men's Glee Club) & it's Alumni all over the United States. Those of us who are SMO Alumni & have departed, must realize that it is still our duty & honor to keep SMO going for all members after they too have left this great organization that we all helped to formulate and preserve. Following in our late, yet cherished, SMO Director & Founder Dr. Ira T. Zook's footsteps, we will "Sustain and Create Unity Through Harmony!"

     This site will allow you to support SMO, as well as aquire information on upcoming SMO & SMO Alumni events in Athens & around the state of Ohio. These events include concerts, appearances, and fundraising/social events.

     If you wish to become a member of the Singing Men of Ohio Society of Alumni and Friends, have event ideas, or just want to say hi, drop us a line...it's free! If you are an Alumni of SMO & want to communicate, keep in touch, & support SMO, please email us because we'd love to get you involved & hear about what you are up to. P.S. Chris Witherspoon (SMO Alumnus) is the Personal Assistant to Jeffery Zucker (NBC President)! Chris helped immensely getting SMO the opportunity to sing on the Today Show!

Cliff and Lindsay Karklin

Cliff and Lindsay Karklin had a new baby girl! Here are the details from Cliff..."We have a daughter!!!! Colette Jane Karklin. 7lbs. 10 oz. 19.5 inches at 12:03am on Friday May 8th". Congrats to you both on your new addition!

Kevin Carver

Kevin was recently elected as the new SMOSAF President at the March SMOSAF Executive Board meeting. He has been hard at work and he has an amazing new board to work with. They all have already done so mich and are keeping the SMOSAF tradition alive with much success and dedication. Congrats Kevin and continue the hard work!

Matt Brunner

Matt Brunner is currently at Temple University and is their Associate Director of Bands where he is the Director of the Owl's Marching Band!  Now we have an OU grad directing in the MAC!!!  Congrats to Matt from his SMO Alumni brothers for this amazing success!

Nathan & Leslie Chamberlain

SMO Alumnus Nathan Chamberlain and his wife (SMO Mamma) Leslie have joined the Peace Corp and will be leaving the states to live in MONGOLIA for 2 years.  They have left Philadelphia and begun their goodbye tour seeing family and friends before they depart.  Because of this new placement, Nathan had to step down as the SMOSAF Secretary and his dedication and leadership will be desperately missed.  We'd like to wish Nathan and Leslie good luck as they embark on this exciting journey...they will be missed!!!

 Kevin Chamberlain

Kevin Chamberlain was a member of Nick Lachey's Choir on the hit show "Clash of the Choirs" that was featured on NBC during the Christmas season!  Kevin and the Cincinnati-based choir WON the 4 day event and they have enjoyed wonderful success since the show's completion.  He has traveled around the country for performances and recently performed in Columbus for our legislature and met our Governor amd gave John Glenn a hi-five!  We will do our best to keep you all up-to-date on his progress during his time of fame.  Congrats to Kevin from his SMO Alumni brothers for this amazing success!

 Dan Tomlin

Dan Tomlin has accepted a new music position in Cairo, Egypt!!!  Here is what he wrote in a recent email...

"Director of Choirs at the Modern English School - Cairo (that's Egypt not Indiana or Georgia). It is a two year contract with options to renew and renew...you understand. Anyway, I couldn't turn the position down because of the caliber of musicals they do (2 a year...they just did the Lion King and the Wiz), the opportunity of spending time in another culture (many of you know that I spent 6 weeks in Thailand and loved it), and last but certainly not least the money!!!! (and no taxes to Uncle Sam or whoever the Uncle is going to be in November) The school will pay for a round-trip ticket once a school year, unfortunately I will be taking mine at Christmas Time to see my mom and family in Alabama and maybe in Ohio, so I will be unable to attend The SMO Alumni Concert for a while unless of course I decide to take a trip back just for giggles."
