Marianna Hess (1980) Mariana (Scholz) Hess (1980) writes, "Highlights of my past 30 years in 20 bullets or less: · From Athens to Cleveland to Columbus to Detroit to Cleveland again. · Career transition from Finance to IS Consulting. · Got heavily involved in theater – mostly acting. Became adept at English and Southern accents. · Lots of dancing, partying, socializing. · Met & married another OU grad, Andy Hess, in 1989. He was a fine arts major in photography, and couple years ahead, although we never met. He says if we had, I never would have gone out with him. We met on a blind date – he asked my cousin out, not knowing about her secret boyfriend, and she redirected him. The rest is history. · More theater. · Built a house; got a fluffy, white doggie that was brilliant at generating white fur tumbleweeds. · Got out of consulting; worked at the Cleveland Clinic, OfficeMax and PolyOne (a plastics company), and carved a niche managing and supporting HR Systems. · Had a baby daughter, Selene. She’s 15 now! Beautiful, smart, independent. · Less theater, debutante roles diminishing. :-( · Brought home a poodle puppy – no shedding! · Moved to Richmond, VA in 2007 for job op - better weather, greater opportunity, better weather… · Adopted a second rescue poodle – mayhem ensues! · “Elected” president of Richmond alumnae group for my sorority (Phi Mu). Learned managing volunteers like wrangling cats. · More theater, including my debut as director – more cats. · Selene almost finished with her freshman year of high school this year, and I’ve been assimilated into the Band Parents/Color Guard secret society – resistance is futile. Life is good! Mariana Hess HTC, Political Science, 1977-1980 MBA 1981 www.linkedin.com/in/MarianaHess www.facebook.com/ludove" Submitted on May 18 2011. > Read more Catching Up
