Hillel
Muhlenberg College Hillel serves the most active Jewish campus population in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. More than thirty percent of Muhlenberg students are Jewish, and more than two-thirds of these students are active in Hillel, making it the largest student organization of any kind on campus. Students are at the heart of a proud and vibrant Hillel community, which includes administrators, faculty, staff, alumni and parents.
In 2006, Muhlenberg became a newly accredited Hillel Foundation (one of just 74 foundations around the world), and cemented its reputation as a center of excellence within the Hillel movement. Hillel International designates foundation status to campus Hillels that meet standards of consistent staffing, stable funding, quality programming and effective governance. This achievement recognizes Muhlenberg Hillel's remarkable history: in just 15 years, the organization has grown from a small, student-led group to a Hillel Program Center to a Hillel Foundation with an expanded budget and staff.
Every semester Hillel regularly hosts Shabbat Dinners, Sunday Bagel Brunches and religious services. Hillel also sponsors trips, topical speakers and social action projects. In addition, Hillel sends students to conferences where they learn leadership skills, Israel advocacy and civic engagement.
Hillel's relationship with parents, alumni and friends is critical to strengthen its program and continue to build a vital Jewish campus community. Your gift to Hillel ensures that Jewish life at Muhlenberg College will not only survive, but continue to thrive.
