How Will My Gift Make a Difference?

Some people think that unless they can participate at a "major" gift level, it is not worth contributing to The Muhlenberg Fund.  This is a common misperception.

Annual gifts to The Muhlenberg Fund, no matter what size, have an immediate impact on the campus and help to shape the experience of every Muhlenberg student through facilities enhancement, research opportunities, faculty development and technological improvements.  Here is a list of giving levels and a few examples of what gifts from $25 to $2,500 can provide:

lFounders: Gifts of $1 - $99

 One refrigerator for a MILE house  One flat file and base for art
 One weight scale for the LSC  Ten residence hall mattresses
 A wave motion demonstrator for physics  
 A $500 Muhlenberg college grant, funded through unrestricted dollars, allocated to general financial aid for a student in need.  Muhlenberg College grants are need-based and currently range from $500 - $25,000. A $1,000 talent scholarship, funded through unrestricted dollars, allocated to general financial aid for a student in theatre, music, dance or art. Talent Scholarships are granted to students with outstanding potential in the arts and currently range from $1,000 to $4,000.

 The Henry Melchior Muhlenberg Circle:  Gifts of $1,500 to $2,499
 A semester's pay for Presidential Assistants  One microscope
 One incubator for chemistry  One laptop computer
 Five residence hall computer desks  One office workstation
 One security camera  Average monthly cost of athletic trainer supplies
 A $2,000 Merit Award, funded through unrestricted dollars allocated to general financial aid for a student in the top 10% of his or her class.  Merit Awards are given to students based on committee review and currently range from $2,000 to $13,000.
