In June 1995, a group of Millersville University alumni announced their intent to raise $25,000 by June 1997 to create a scholarship for African-American and Latino undergraduate upperclassmen. The committee, through donations, special events and projects has raised more than $85,000 as of October 30, 2004. The African-American and Latino Alumni Scholarship Committee includes ten alumni members and three University members.
Applications and all required materials must be submitted by October 22, 2004 no later than 4:00 p.m. to the Development Office in the Duncan Alumni House. The amount of the scholarship is $1300 to be given through the Bursar's Office. Three $1300 scholarships may be given in 2005. Scholarships will be distributed evenly ($650) for the fall and spring semesters of the following school year. If a recipient is a December graduation candidate, the entire award will be given in the fall semester. A recipient can only be awarded this scholarship once.
African-Americans and Latinos matriculating as full-time undergraduates at Millersville University are eligible to apply. Students making application must be enrolled full-time for the following semester (for which the scholarship would be granted).
