Latest Class News!
April 2, 2005
Dear '56 Holy Cross Classmates,
You are invited to a golf outing at Bryce Resort in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia either June 2 and June 3, 2005, or June 7 and June 8, 2005. We will determine which after we have input as to which dates most can come. We will be teeing off beginning at 1:00 PM on the first day. Dinner will follow in Coleman's Restaurant at the Resort. All golfers will be staying the night at our ski lodge on the mountain ridge overlooking Bryce. We will have early breakfast followed by morning golf. Festivities will end with lunch immediately after golf. The total cost to participate is $175 including two rounds of golf, dinner and drinks, breakfast and lunch. If we have some non-golfers their fee will be $75.
Bryce is located in the little town of Basye, Virginia with no traffic lights within four hundred square miles. It is ten miles from Mt.Jackson, site of a civil war hospital, which is at exit 273 on Interstate Route 81. You can get more information on the Resort on the web at www.bryceresort.com. It is a two hour drive from Washington D.C. I hope you can join us. Please let me know one way or the other by replying to this e-mail and if you can come your preference as to dates if you have one.
I will send detailed directions to those who will be coming. Hope to see you soon. Please feel free to pass this on to any of our class with whom you are in contact.
Warm regards, Pete McCloskey petemccloskey@aol.com
Report on Class Golf Outing - by Bob Fox
Once again our class of '56 outing was a great success - not for the golf but for the reunion of many of our class, several who came together for the first time since possibly graduation. Golfers: Fox, Garmer, George Flynn, Powell, Boardman, Block, Willie Lynch, Kilbride, Medler, Fleischer, Daly, Fury, Sullivan, Cooney, Halloren, Cox, Vellaccio, Hellauer, Feitleberg and last but by far not least, Lawler. For dinner: John Cunningham, Grimm. Frank Vellaccio, Senior VP at Holy Cross, had a Q and A session after dinner and did a great job. Some of the questions were pointed. I actually heard from about 10 others who are potentials for 2006. Please note the dates for '06 - March 6th and 7th. It was nice to see some new faces. Perhaps next year we can get Dunn, Murphy and Dooley down here. We took pictures but it will be a while - peace.

Class Gathering at the New York Athletic Club December 5, 2005
On Monday Dec. 5th, John Lawler hosted his third party at the New York Athletic Club for our class planning to our 50th Reunion. Twenty-two of us attended plus Fr. McFarland, Jen DiFranco and Ana Alvarado from Holy Cross in a sparkling evening of memories, honors and planning details. Father presented George Grimm and Tommy Beecher with their member gifts for reaching the School's highest level for Contributors to the College. Bill Murphy, already a recognized contributor, spoke for awhile, as did George. Danny Dunn, Roger Bowler, Gerry Connell, Bill McDonough, Moose Quine, Joe Hellauer, Jack McDermott, Vic Keyloun, Howie Owens, Bill Treanor, Chuck Fleischer, Peter Nigro,Herm Charbonneau, Don Medler, and Bob Mainzer were all there. Father Mc Farland praised our class for its spirit and work done together so far for our reunion, and then updated us on the improvements going on at HC, plus the extraordinary achievements of the students and Faculty.
