Welcome
You have arrived (either intentionally or inadvertently) at the website maintained by the class that graduated from Holy Cross College in 1955. [Yes. That's almost half a century ago. But, I digress.] At present (2004) this is a new site whose purpose is simply to augment the communication lines among our classmates. The site will not be static, with new content added as time and energy permit.

The Family Spirit of the Class of 1955
When my daughter Gael was applying for admission to Holy Cross, she wrote in her essay, ?My father calls his Class his ?other family.?? That was 1981. The reference was accurate. The background may be of some interest.
My mother died in 1948, my father in 1951. Despite the loving care received from my mother?s two sisters, I arrived at Holy Cross with something of a familial vacuum, but not for long. At some point in Junior Year, the ?family bonding? was substantial and by Senior Year it was complete.
The two years I was a Jesuit novice were a special gift from God. My spiritual life was deepened. I made the thirty-day Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, meditated on the life of Christ for an hour and a half on a regular day, etc. But of equal importance, the two-year delay in entering Holy Cross provided me with the great privilege of being a member of the Class of 1955, the most wonderful group of men I have ever met.
All of our nine official reunions have been enjoyable and successful. Our 25th was uniquely splendid, and elevated by example the four reunions which followed.
During the weekend of our 30th Reunion, Pat McCarthy, our very able Director of Alumni Relations, told me that he had visited all of the Friday evening class dinners. His observation was that the Class of ?55 is different. I agreed but was curious as to what prompted his conclusion. He said that all the rooms but ours were noisy; ?hail fellow well met? prevailed. In our room, you could have heard the proverbial pin drop. We were prayerfully remembering by name, our brothers who had died since our 25th. His additional comment was that the others were more like periodic gatherings of social groups, while ours resembled a family reunion.
Our 50th in June of 2005 should be the very best of all. Its quality and the enjoyment it will bring will be improved by the presence of each of us who can possibly attend. Please mark your calendars now: June 10th, 11th and 12th, 2005.

Events: 50th Reunion
The 50th Reunion of the famous Class of '55 is now history. It was held on June 10 - 12, 2005. An unprecedented number of attendees descended upon the campus to celebrate the event (over 350 including alumni, wives and widows).
The result was the retelling of many old stories, retrieved from the memory banks and the creation of new memories of the weekend conversations as we tried to bridge the years that had passed since June 1955. For some, this was their first visit to the hill since graduation.
To help capture the experience, we would like to add a pictorial view to our web site.
