I welcome you to the website and online community portal of the Howard University Medical Alumni Association, Inc. (HUMAA). If you have visited here before, you no doubt notice that there have been numerous design changes and upgrades to make your visit more enjoyable. I trust you will like what you see and that you will explore and utilize this site thoroughly and often. The goal is to provide a venue that can keep you abreast of developments within the HUMAA organization, news from our beloved Howard College of Medicine (HUCM), announcements of upcoming events of HUMAA, HUCM, the University and accomplishments of our alumni and students.

Originally founded in 1871, three years after the founding of the College of Medicine, and incorporated as an independent organization in 1945, HUMAA continues to support the mission Howard University College of Medicine, provide scholarships and program assistance to the medical students and promote fellowship and communication among the alumni of the College of Medicine.

I thank all of you for the donations, dues payments and other support offered to HUMAA and encourage you to continue to do so. I have included HUMAA and HUCM in my estate plan. I hope many of you will consider doing likewise. If you have included HUMAA in your will, please let our Executive Director know so we may give you proper recognition. Your generous philanthropy enables us to serve and implement all programs. The Executive Board of the organization is grateful. PLEASE let me know of ways we can improve our service to you and our brand. This is YOUR ALUMNI ORGANIZATION and I want it to be something of which you are proud to be a part.

Let me remind you that the HUMAA ANNUAL DINNER will be held in MAY. It is open to ALL ALUMNI and not just those who are celebrating the 5 year incremental reunions. This is a great time to come back to visit our Alma Mater, see the wonderful improvements in the medical school, see former teachers, to RECONNECT with old friends and make new ones. So make it a point to put it on your schedule each year and COME BACK TO HOWARD. We have held a dinner cruise on the Potomac the past two years on Friday night ( the Annual Dinner is Thursday night) . It has been a wonderful activity and I want to see all of you come and party with HUMAA this year. Happy 2012 to you and your families!
