Tomas Romero (1991)
Tomas Romero (1991) writes, "A native of Santa Cruz, California, I graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University's progressive Film Studies program. Moving south, I continued my education at the prestigious American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

While at AFI, I wrote a total of four short film scripts, two of which were produced as second year thesis projects. That same year I was also honored with the Sherill Corwin Screenwriter of the Year Award for my Master's thesis screenplay "Dead Celebrities".

Less than a year after graduating from AFI with my MFA in screenwriting, I sold my first spec screenplay, 'Lowlifes", a satire of my years in the retail trenches, to Twentieth Century Fox with Randa Haines attached to produce.

Other feature assignments soon followed, "Cinderella's Revenge" at Columbia, "Sorority Secrets" at Paramount, "Downsized" for independent producer Tom Barad, and I have also seen my AFI thesis script "Dead Celebrities" optioned by comic book company Top Cow Productions.

On the TV front, I have written a critically-lauded episode of Telemundo's landmark Spanish-language sitcom, "Los Beltrán" and was the first writer on MTV's original musical comedy, "The American Mall". Based on my spec screenplay, "Lowlifes", "The American Mall" was produced by "High School Musical" exec producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush and directed by award-winning director Shawn Ku. It is set to air on the network in August of 2008.

Aside from screenwriting, I also served as the Director of Development at Minutia Films, a company I co-founded in 2004 as an independent production unit of CGI effects house, Luma Pictures.

"Not Forgotten", which I co-wrote with producer/director Dror Soref will be my first produced feature film. It stars Simon Baker, Paz Vega, Claire Forlani and "Borat" co-star Ken Davitian and is due to hit the festival circuit in the fall of 2008."

Renee Malloy (1970) writes, "I graduated from law school in 2002 and founded a legal education non-profit called Read Me My Rights, Inc. I hope to start school-based legal clinics. I am also interested in the new California Civil Rights legislation concerning Gender-Based Hate Crimes, sexual assault as a civil rights offense. I would like to connect with anyone else seeking justice in this area. I am also writing a book concerning this new state law and am looking for help."
