We even offer some help getting to know the area on our chapter's home page!
We strongly encourage all alumni to peruse our website and contact any of our members with questions. To sign up for our regular e-mailings, please send your information to Megan Turk Maurer, at megan.turk@emory.edu. Furthermore, we warmly welcome new ideas and volunteers for the various activities we sponsor. A good source for everything. From housing to furniture to tickets for local events, this is a great place to start.
HillZoo
This site is geared toward people who work on Capitol Hill or are looking to do so. While there are a limited number of housing listings, this site is a good source to look for babysitting, house-sitting, or pet sitting jobs (a nice option while searching for a job or realizing your salary might be a little lower than you had in mind!). Also lets you live within your budget with a list of happy hours held each night.
The Washington Post
The Washington Post's real estate section is a great source for housing options and also has an extensive classified section.
Washington City Paper
New classifieds are posted every Tuesday at 3pm.
Entertainment
Smithsonian Institution
While the Smithsonian museums are universally found on any tourist's must-see list, the Smithsonian also offers cultural programs for Washington metro area residents, including one for young professionals.
TICKETplace
Washington DC's ticket discount site allows you to experience the area?s events while staying on a budget.
Washingtonian
The Washingtonian provides articles on many aspects of DC area living and is a good source for restaurant reviews, entertainment reasons, and researching anything from where to get a great haircut to finding a new doctor.
Washington Post's Entertainment Guide
This guide updates it?s entertainment section daily, and also includes editor's picks to figure out what is definitely worth your time.
Also, make sure you check this website for upcoming events!
Transportation
These links will help you learn the rules of the local roads, and what you need to do to get a new license.
Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles
Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles
DC Department of Motor Vehicles
