Caucus of Emory Black Alumni (CEBA)
What We Do
The Mission of CEBA is to unite and represent the interests of black alumni from all divisions of Emory and to promote active participation of black alumni in the affairs of the Emory Alumni Association.
CEBA members work to foster and cultivate social, political, professional, and intellectual relationships among black alumni, faculty, staff and students from all divisions of Emory University. CEBA encourages, promotes and supports the recruitment and retention of minority students, faculty and staff in the divisions of Emory.
Who We Are
Melissa Creary, MPH, is CEBA's Co-Chair. Originally from Hallandale Beach, Florida, Melissa graduated with both Biology and Public Health degrees from Emory. Melissa currently works at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and recently co-founded ShadowBlossom, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the underserved. She also sits on the Beacon Dance Company Board headed by fellow Emory Alum, Patton White. Melissa has been a part of the CEBA family for the past 4 years.
Emery Lewis, Jr., is CEBA's Co-Chair of Activities. Emery graduated from the Goizueta Business School in 2002 and currently works for Campus MovieFest, the World's Largest Student Film Festival. Emery enjoys bowling and race car driving.
Melanie Lastrapes, Esq., is CEBA's Communications Chair. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Melanie graduated from Emory with a degree in Political Science in 2002. She subsequently attended law school at Georgia State University College of Law. Melanie currently practices employment and labor law at Jackson Lewis LLP.
Tayla Bryce is CEBA's Chair of Undergraduate Student Affairs. Tayla is a senior in the Goizueta Business School pursuing a concentration in Accounting and Organization & Management. She is also involved in various programs at the College, such as Multicultural Outreach and Resources at Emory (MORE), Association of Caribbean Educators and Students (ACES), Black Student Alliance, Goizueta Multicultural Organization (GMO), and the Emory Wheel.
