Welcome to The Emory Wheel's alumni group!
NEW: The Emory Wheel was named the best college newspaper in the Southeast by the Southeastern Journalism Conference. Awards were announced at the annual convention in Mississippi on Feb. 22. In the individual categories, the newspaper received five first place awards, more than any other school. In addition, the Wheel's website received first place from the Georgia College Press Association. A full list of awards is here.
As Emory University's student newspaper, The Emory Wheel has one of the most successful and diverse alumni bases, with former staff members working in a variety of professions all over the world. This website can serve as the focal point for that network. As the current editors of the Wheel, we'll work to keep everyone updated with events at the newspaper, as well as provide alumni an outlet to stay in touch with one another.
Some background: The Wheel was founded in 1919. It publishes on Tuesdays and Fridays during the academic year. Copies of the paper are delivered throughout the campus and
into areas of downtown Decatur, and all of the Wheel's content is available online at emorywheel.com
The Wheel is financially and editorially independent from the University. All of the content is generated and edited by the Wheel's student staff, and all costs are covered by profits from self-generated advertising sales. We would love to create an authoritative history of the Wheel to be stored in these pages. If there's anything you can add, email us at editor@emorywheel.com.
