Welcome to the Seattle Chapter of Emory Alumni!
We aim to welcome new residents to the Puget Sound region by helping them make connections to other alumni and bring existing alumni together through social, educational, and service events. Our goal is to form a diverse group of involved alumni in this amazing city that attracted many of our members far from their roots.
The chapter started in the fall of 2006 when a group of alumni met on a rainy evening to discuss plans for making an active and sustainable Seattle Chapter of Emory Alumni. Quickly this group started planning social events such as happy hours and coordinating service and philanthropic events. We have aimed to increase the scope and scale of our events each year.
While the Seattle chapter holds the honor of being one of the furthest mainland USA locations geographically from Atlanta, it continues to hold a draw for many alumni. We currently have 800 members and continue to grow through established local alumni and recent transplants to the area; Seattle continues to draw more Emory alumni each year due to everything it has to offer. The beautiful water and green, snow capped mountains of the region combined with the professional opportunities in businesses, technology, medical, environmental and philanthropic make Seattle a desirable destination for many past and future alumni.
Our events are equally as diverse and have included everything from helping in the warehouse of a local food bank, to an evening with President Wagner for a discussion, and dinner at the magnificent, newly constructed Olympic Sculpture Park.
We have many exciting future events in the works for alumni and their families including historic tours, sporting events and picnics; plus philanthropy and social service events continue to be an integral part of our activities. Of course, these endeavors will continue to be balanced with evening social gatherings and happy hour events.
We invite you to contact us with any questions you have about the chapter or the greater Seattle region. Just click on one of our names to email us. We would love to hear from you!
