Greetings from the Emory Alumni Association!
I am thrilled that you are exploring ways to reconnect with Emory. Welcome back!
At this time, there is no formal chapter in your region. However, I would enjoy the opportunity to work with you to engage alumni in your area. My name is Marci Carothers and I am one of three assistant directors for regional programs at the Emory Alumni Association (EAA). I work with alumni across the country to develop dynamic programs and activities to strengthen the Emory alumni network. Regional alumni activity and formal chapters help strengthen our alumni?s connections to Emory, and most importantly, to each other. Regional chapters bring a little bit of Emory to wherever you are and serve as forums for building an Emory community in your area. There are many ways for you to get involved so let?s get started.
Casual events often take place without the structure of a formal chapter. Events such as dinner at a local restaurant or drinks to welcome new alumni to the area are easy to plan and very popular. More formal chapters come in all sizes, from cities with a couple hundred alumni to several thousand across a large metro area. One of the best features of formal chapters is the diversity of activities that can be planned?ranging from a wide array of social events, networking functions, family-friendly activities, service projects, student send-offs, guest lectures, and book clubs. Since EAA activity is volunteer-led and volunteer-driven, with local alumni leading the way, your activities can meet the needs and interests specific to your local alumni community.
There also are many ways to actively participate in the Emory alumni network as an individual. Alumni serve as career resources to each other and current students through the Emory Career Network (ECN) and as admissions representatives, and ambassadors.
Please contact me at mcaroth@emory.edu or 404.727.0081 to discuss alumni activity in your region or complete the Alumni Volunteer Link (AVL) online. Welcome back to the Emory alumni community!
I look forward to hearing from you!
