The Duke Alumni Association is committed to preparing current students to be active and engaged alumni. Whether you're a current undergraduate or enrolled in a graduate or professional school, we have something just for you.
Student Alumni Advisory Board - The Student Alumni Advisory Board (SAAB) was created in the fall of 2008 with two major goals: first, to encourage student involvement with the Alumni Association before graduation, and second, to help the Alumni Association coordinate its programs involving students. DukeConnect - Get advice from more than 4,000 alumni who registered in our volunteer database. DukeConnect is the source of advice for students and alumni seeking career advice. Please contact networking@daa.duke.edu with all DukeConnect-related queries.
Affinity Group Connections - If you are a student group (Greek, social, service, residence, activity, and so forth) and are interested in connecting with your alumni predecessors, please follow the above link to learn how the DAA can help you engage your group's alumni. To start the connection, contact Beth Higgins '07 at networking@daa.duke.edu.
Career Conference- The Career Center and the Duke Alumni Association have a unique partnership: We are determined to provide students with the best mentoring and the widest range of job opportunities. The most successful result that came from this joint venture is the Fannie Mitchell Career Conference. Whether you are an undecided freshmen or a seasoned graduate student, the Career Conference has something for everyone.
Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award - Established by the Duke Alumni Association in 1970, the award recognizes outstanding undergraduate teaching at Duke University. In 2008, Duke undergraduates nominated a record number of 80 faculty members. From those nominations, an eight-member ADUTA student committee randomly selected from the student body selected a winner for 2008: Professor Henri P. Gavin of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Reunion student workers - During Reunion Weekend in April, the DAA hires no less than 30 students to help wrangle the 4,000+ alumni who return to campus. If you are interested in learning more, and being well-paid for your help, contact Dede Olson at dede.olson@daa.duke.edu.

Forever Duke - Come join the DAA, Campus Council, SAAB, and friends you haven't seen since May in the area in front of Alumni House for the Forever Duke back-to-class block party after your first day of classes. Start the year off right with free food, live music, free beer (for those of age), class gifts, and more. Show up, relax, socialize, and enjoy yourself on this otherwise depressing day (before the term papers kick in). Please keep an eye out for a Facebook Event!
The Reader Project - The Duke Writing in the Disciplines program and Office of Alumni Affairs are collaborating to bring current Duke students together with Duke Alumni and employees in a unique and exciting educational experiment. The Reader Project offers students the opportunity to get feedback on a class writing assignment from members of the broader Duke community who have professional experience relevant to their assignments.
