"The Deerfield experience" is a well known phrase to the alumni, parents and friends who interact with our graduates. While not glamorous, it does aptly encompass the many moments that make up the education of a Deerfield student. It includes the dress code, the sit-down meals, the studying, the caring adults and the striving for excellence. While every individual "Deerfield experience" is unique, the similarities among them create a strong, common bond.
This bond is what we in the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development call "the Deerfield difference". Not only do our graduates and their parents revel in the "experience", they give back to the school with gusto, in order to make the "difference". These generous gifts of time, talent and resources from scores of volunteers are what set Deerfield apart.
In fact, it is the letters, emails and ultimately the thousands of phone calls made by our volunteers that give Deerfield the financial flexibility to maintain its excellence. Similarly, it is this personal contact that leads fifty-one percent of our alumni and eighty-seven percent of our parents to support the school. These are tremendous numbers.
