Hail and Farewell

by Mimi Morsman

IN APRIL, GOOD-BYES WERE SAID TO SEVEN MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, including President Peter Schulte '75, Alex Auersperg '78, David Clark '55, Dan Cranshaw '86, Craig Creelman '90, Stephen Carr Davis '80, and Sam Weisman '65. Joining the committee as replacements were: Rick Anderson '72, Marisa Arredondo '93 Bayard DeMallie '80, Steven Katz '70, Rush McCloy '92, and Peter Neville '70, in addition to Josh Binswanger '80, who assumed the presidency.

To those of you leaving the committee, heartfelt thanks for your loyalty and wonderful service to the Alumni Association of Deerfield. Your ideas and enthusiasm will be missed. Special kudos go to Peter Schulte '75, whose many accomplishments during this presidency include the alumni website, the alumni newsletter, development of the first-ever homecoming, Look to the Hills: The Deerfield Summer Institute, the formation of various subcommittees who "did their homework" and reported back to the full committee, further develorment ofregional clubs, expansion of the Executive Committee membership to include a broader group of members, including graduates from the '50s and a larger number of female graduates.

But not to worry...Josh Binswanger '80, president-elect, is no stranger to Deerfield. From bicentennial days, to being a Commencement speaker alongside his father, Robert Binswanger '48, to serving as master of ceremonies for the Senior Alumni Dinner, to hosting an event in DC , to winning the C. Alice Baker Award for "his quiet and steady day-to-day service which is so instrumental to the success of the school," and finally to being the master of ceremonies for the halftime festivities honoring Coach Jim Smith in November of 2004, Josh has been a key contributor, and we look forward to continued great things for all alumni of Deerfield.
