Deerfield Today Newsletter

Dear Deer field Alumni

by Peter M. Schulte '75

The arrival of this spring newsletter marks the coming end of the school year and the moving along of seniors to make way for a new class. So too, this marks the end of my own three year term, and that of several of my colleagues, on the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association. Turnover is a healthy process and the Executive Committee that is in place for the future, including Josh Binswanger '80 as president, intends to be as active and responsive as ever.

Over the past several years we have made significant strides toward bringing alumni closer both to the school and each other through a series of programs that have been positively received and at times groundbreaking for secondary schools. The Deerfield regional clubs, alumni athletic contests (swimming, hockey and squash to date), Homecoming Weekend, Look to the Hills Summer Institute, young alumni activities, this newsletter and certain other programs, have been established with the purpose of offering alumni opportunities to reconnect with the Deerfield community. A very positive trend is in place, more offerings are in the works, and we will continue to refine the program.

I particularly want to thank Mimi Morsman, whose significant energy has both pushed us all forward and made the trains run on time. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving all of you and Deerfield, and I can't think of a finer group to represent.

My best regards and Go Big Green!
