Summer Greetings. We have received many favorable comments regarding this newsletter, and we encourage you to send any suggestions you may have with respect to information you are interested in reading, whether it be about alumni, the school, faculty interviews, or an o occasional column from the Headmaster. We are pleased to tell you that Deerfield parents now want to take our model and make adjustments geared specifically to their needs.

Several new projects have developed over the last two years, including Pathways, Volunteers Weekend, alumni hockey and alumni swimming. A custom-made book, funded by the 2001-2002 Executive Committee of the Alumni Association, will contain each senior's signature, recorded on the night before graduation, as a formal way to welcome each graduate into the alumni body. Regional clubs are already active in a few cities, with Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Denver, and New York on the horizon. And we are eagerly awaiting your reactions to a possible summer school and the introduction of off campus mini-reunions. We are also interested in whether you want to see more events on campus, an annual alumni soccer or lacrosse game, or if some of you want to see an alumni travel program.

Deerfield ties are strong, whether they are carried forward while returning to campus or meeting other alumni across the country. I am told that you can pick out a Deerfield graduate anywhere, regardless of graduating class, and we hope that quality of spirit leads us all to gather more frequently. This newsletter is a part of that greater effort to bring the alumni community together. Our activity level has increased, and we want to continue the momentum.
