| Giving is an important tradition at Deerfield. The gifts of each generation ensure
that those who follow benefit from a Deerfield education. This tradition of giving has
made a tremendous impact on the quality of the education and experience students receive.

| Capital Gifts fall into the following categories:

- Endowment gifts
Gifts that are designated to endowment are invested by the school, with the income directed toward the purpose
the donor selects. Only the income from the principal is spent, ensuring that the gift continues in perpetuity,
helping to safeguard Deerfield's finances through changing economic times.

- Facilities Gifts
Over the years, gifts to build, renovate and restore facilities have helped Deerfield keep pace with the changing
needs of students and faculty. Capital projects for facilities include the renovation of classroom buildings,
dormitories, visual and performing arts, athletic facilities, and technological improvements throughout campus.
