Welcome

Dear Columbians;

I would like to begin by thanking our fantastic board for nominating/electing me to serve. I hope I can lead this group as successfully as it was under the tutelage of Bill Frye, ’59CC.

Our club continues to grow and reach out to, not only current alumni, but future alumni as well. I am pleased by the active role our alumni have taken in recruiting local high school talent. Because of this dedication and commitment, we have been successful in increasing undergraduate representation from the Tampa Bay Area.

Thank you to all the alumni who volunteered their time to interview the local applicants; it is one of our board goals to ensure that all local area applicants are interviewed by an alumnus, therefore, I encourage you, if you are not yet a participant, please register with the Columbia University Alumni Recruiting Committee (ARC) and join us in increasing awareness of our alma mater.

Your board has been working diligently on this year’s dynamic events. We “kick-off” our alumni year with a group outing to the University of South Florida vs. West Virginia University football game on Friday, October 30th.

We are always on the look-out for new events, new speakers, and new ideas. If there is anything you feel our group would be interested in, or you would like to be a speaker, let us know. I can always be reached at isr2@caa.columbia.edu.

Remember – this club is YOUR club!

Here’s to a great year!!!!

Ingrid Shawn Magnani – ’02SEAS
President

The Columbia University Alumni Club of Tampa Bay serves approximately 1,000 alumni of the various schools and colleges of Columbia University residing in the Tampa Bay area, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk Counties, and has close ties to our sister Sarasota Club to the south.

We organize programs around cultural events, faculty speakers, local notables, and social activities for alumni throughout the year.

We support area students with gift certificates to the Columbia University book store, and work closely with the Alumni Representative Committee to interview prospective students from West Central Florida.

Check our "News" and "Events" sections for descriptions of upcoming programs.

Visit our membership section to learn about the benefits of joining the club and to sign up.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Note: If you are visiting the Tampa Bay Area, please contact us (Ingrid, our club president, at isr2@caa.columbia.edu), and we'll acquaint you with our community.
