If you or someone you know has considered applying for The Alverno MBAmake plans to attend the Information Session on Wednesday, June 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the TLTC. This session will also provide information on the Master of Science in Nursing program. Alverno is accepting applications for both of these graduate programs, as well as the Master of Arts in Education. If you haven't already done so, be sure to sign up for the Alverno Alumnae online community -- everyone who has registered by June 30 will be entered into a drawing to receive two free tickets to the tailgate and Brewers game on July 29 (see below for details). You'll find instructions on how to register for the online community at the end of this email -- be sure to take a minute to post your own Class Note to share any personal or professional news you might have.

Homecoming 2006: Take a New Look

Friday, October 6

Saturday, October 7 (Grounds Dedication)

If you've been on campus lately, you've seen the construction progress as we undergo major changes to enhance and highlight Alverno's physical beauty. Please make plans now to be a part of the dedication ceremony during Homecoming. In addition, we will be honoring graduates from the classes of 1956 and 1981, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Alverno's business and management program, giving alumnae an update on the College's strategic priorities, and presenting workshops and discussion groups conducted by Alverno faculty members. Watch for more details in A-News, in the Alverno Magazine, and through the mail later this summer, or e-mail the alumnae office to be added to our special Homecoming mailing list.

CowParade Wisconsin 2006
Alverno Alums Are Among Featured Artists
Cows Graze: June 3 – October 13, 2006
Gala Auction: Friday November 10, 2006 (The online auction will begin November 11 and run for two weeks.)

Paula Washow '01 is a participating artist in "CowParade Wisconsin 2006." Washow submitted four designs to CowParade and her idea, "Georgia MooKeefe" was selected. Artists were asked to create images on a fiberglass cow that represents the state, and artist Georgia O'Keefe was a Wisconsin artist. Washow enlisted the help of live dairy cows to complete her project; she spread paint on a sheet of plastic, had the cows walk through the paint then walk randomly across a canvas. Washow selected images from the canvas, cut the canvas into pieces and with the help of Alverno alums Mary Beth Freckmann ‘02 and Heidi Planey ‘01 -- as well as other artist friends -- she adhered the images to the fiberglass cow. The artists also helped to put the finishing touches on the cow. CowParade is the world's largest public art event. The finished cows will be on display in the Madison area through mid-October. A live auction will take place on Nov. 10 with an online auction to follow. Proceeds from the auction will help to build the new American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. Alverno Presents/Global Union World Music Festival
September 16 & 17, 1:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Alverno Presents, the performing arts series of Alverno College, has created a regional partnership with The City of Chicago World Music Festival, and The Madison World Music Festival to produce a free, two-day festival of music and cultures from around the globe.  This community-wide, educational celebration will be co-hosted by Milwaukee County Parks and our presenting sponsor in the Humboldt Park Chalet Band Shell on September 16-17, from 1–7 p.m. each day.  Global Union coincides with the festivals in Chicago (September 14–21) and Madison (September 21–23).

This event is being produced with the help of a highly inclusive consortium of community partners, both public and private, for-profit and non-profit, to ensure the event is ethnically representative, community-focused, family friendly, well-publicized, educational, engaging, and, of course, fun and entertaining.  Community partners for this event include media outlets, arts agencies, government agencies, educational institutions, civic groups, representatives and agencies from the local Hispanic, East Asian, Serbian, African and Middle Eastern communities, and faculty and staff from Milwaukee School of Engineering, UWM, Marquette, and Alverno College.

For more information on corporate and community sponsorship opportunities for Global Union, or to volunteer, please email David Ravel.  Sponsorship opportunities begin at only $500 and include an onsite booth!

New Year’s Eve is six months away, but Alverno’s year ends on June 30.
One of the most important things you can do today is renew your support of Alverno College through a gift to the Annual Fund.  We continue to need your help in sustaining the academic excellence that is characteristic of our College.  We cannot accomplish all that we do with tuition and endowment income alone. We are grateful to more than 2,000 alumnae who have contributed this year, and we would like to continue to expand our alumnae participation. If you have not made a donation recently, please consider making your gift by using a credit card on our secure website.  And remember, all gifts made between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006 will be recognized in the 2005-06 Annual Report and Donor Honor Roll.

Double or triple your gift to Alverno College through matching gifts.
Did you know that many employers match gifts made by their employees to colleges such as Alverno?  You can know look up your employer or that of your spouse online.  Most corporate matching gift programs match the gift but some even double your gift or match the gifts made by retirees.

Consider naming Alverno in your will.
One of the easiest ways to help Alverno is to make a bequest to Alverno in your will. Other planned gifts that are easy to carry out include naming Alverno the beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. For more information,
email Stacy Swadish, Director of Development or call 414-382-6093.
